Chequers

I've been here several times and the food has always been great. The staff are always friendly though sometimes it takes a while to be served as they are so busy. But worth the wait.

Our favourite local restaurant. We visited for my daughters 21st birthday meal and it was perfect. Thank you to our waitress who was very attentive and polite. The food was brilliant as always.

The meet and greet was great. Table was ready with the extra touch of a flower and drinks list. Etc.

Nice pub good real ales. I had lamb rump and shepherds pie. The lamb was rather over cooked. Service was a little slow. Otherwise it was ok with reasonable prices.

I had an upset stomach in the evening and overnight following lunch at The Chequers. However other members of the party had the same food without any problems. Following lunch we attended a funeral at the crematorium. The reception afterwards could also have be the cause. On balance I do not hold The Chequers responsible.We enjoyed our meal after you agreed to move us to a different table away from a very noisy table. That was appreciated. Service was slow but adequate for the time we had allowed.
