I can tell you responsibly that the best sweet and sour pork is in the Chinese restaurant of a five-star hotel. The sweet and sour pork at Caiyuexuan Chinese Restaurant in Guangzhou Yuehai Sheraton Hotel is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The biggest difference between the sweet and sour pork in other restaurants is that it does not use 100% fat meat, but fat and lean meat, and there is gravy when you bite it. The sweet and sour pork in other restaurants is basically fried dry and hard, which can fool tourists, but for me, since I discovered the high quality of the sweet and sour pork at Caiyuexuan, I am no longer willing to eat sweet and sour pork from other places. The other Cantonese dishes in this restaurant are excellent. Don't think that five-star hotels must be expensive. You can get a 20% discount with an SPG card, which is quite cost-effective. This is the best place to enjoy Cantonese cuisine, reinterpreting classic home-cooked Cantonese dishes. Remember to order a cup of raw ground almond tea after the meal to refresh yourself, which is very suitable for this season.
