E13***52I accidentally entered the cabin and tasted Korean cuisine in Erdaobaihe. The rice wine tasted good and was drinkable even for non-drinkers. The dishes in the cabin were a bit sweet and spicy, and the portions were large, so you didn't need to order too much to be full.
The rice wine is a bit sour and I'm not used to it. The cold noodles taste different from the cold noodles in Beijing, but they are delicious.
There are log cabins all over the country, and the authentic ones are still in Yanji.
Hey everyone! I traveled from Hangzhou, with a stopover in Changchun before flying to Changbai Mountain. I initially thought winter snow activities would be way over budget, but it only cost 1500 RMB per person for 3 days! We even visited Tianchi Lake, went rafting, and soaked in a real hot spring – here's a simple, down-to-earth guide for those who are afraid of the cold but still want to enjoy snow. I've already covered all the pitfalls for you! I. Worried about potential pitfalls in winter snow activities? Turns out, no big disappointments! Before the trip, my best friend and I wondered if prices in Northeast China would be inflated in winter, but everything was surprisingly reasonable, with several pleasant surprises: 1. The hot spring hotels really do include hot springs, it's not just a gimmick! We stayed at the Changbai Mountain Lanjing Hot Spring Resort Hotel, which cost just over 300 RMB per night, including breakfast and a free hot spring bath. It was only a 5-minute walk from our room to the hot spring area. The pool was in the snow, so you could soak while snowflakes fell, and the water temperature was around 40℃. Definitely bring your swimsuit and a waterproof phone case! 1. I didn't bring a waterproof bag, so I could only watch others take photos of the snow-covered hot springs, unable to take any myself, which I really regretted. 2. Korean food was cheap and filling. On the first night, we went to a small wooden house rice wine restaurant and ordered army stew for 68 yuan, spicy rice cakes for 25 yuan, and rice wine for 15 yuan a pot. The two of us were very full. The rice wine was sweet and sour, with a low alcohol content, and it was refreshing. The spicy rice cakes were coated in sauce. 3. I wasn't ripped off renting a coat! The temperature at the top of the mountain was too low, and my down jacket wasn't thick enough. I rented knee pads and a coat at the entrance of the scenic area for 50 yuan, half the price of the 100 yuan advertised online. This is a real necessity. On the mountaintop, a coat blocks the wind, and knee pads keep your knees warm. II. 3-Day Itinerary, Full and Relaxed Days Day 1: Hangzhou to Changbai Mountain → Hot Springs and Korean Food - The flight from Hangzhou to Changbai Mountain had a stopover in Changchun, a total of 5 hours. After landing, we found a shared ride, a 40-minute ride to Erdaobaihe Town, costing about 50 RMB per person (shared with two other tourists, half the price of hiring a private car); - After dropping off our luggage at the hotel, we went to the hot springs. A one-hour soak relieved the fatigue from the flight. In the evening, we went to a small wooden house rice wine restaurant for dinner. The cheese in the army stew was incredibly stretchy, and the spicy rice cakes were increasingly delicious. We could even take away leftover rice wine; the owner thoughtfully provided a plastic bottle; - Reminder: Don't take unlicensed taxis! There are legitimate shared taxi stands at the airport exit with transparent pricing, about 30 RMB cheaper than unlicensed taxis. Day 2: Full day at the North Slope of Changbai Mountain → Snow play and hot spring eggs - Enter the scenic area at 7:30 am. Buy e-tickets one day in advance via the mini-program to avoid queuing. First, take the scenic area bus to the transfer center, then buy off-road vehicle tickets (80 yuan/person) to climb to the top and view Tianchi Lake. - Tianchi Lake is completely frozen in winter, a vast expanse of white. Surrounded by mountains, the wind is incredibly strong, making it difficult to open your eyes. Be quick when taking photos; I took three pictures and my hands were shaking from the wind, so I quickly retreated to the viewing platform. - Changbai Waterfall is frozen into an icefall, which is spectacular. I bought hot spring eggs by the roadside for 10 yuan for three. The shells were warm, and the yolks were runny, with a chewy white – much better than regular boiled eggs. - The water in Green Abyss Pool doesn't freeze in winter; it's green. Taking photos on the boardwalk with snow on the branches against the green water is quite beautiful. - The underground forest is a 3-kilometer hike through pristine pine forests. The snow on the ground is thick, crunching underfoot. My best friend and I had a snowball fight for 20 minutes, getting so warm we even took off our coats. - In the evening, I went back to town and ate Korean cold noodles. A bowl cost 20 yuan. Although it was winter, it was refreshingly cold and appetizing, and with kimchi, it was especially delicious. Day 3: Magic World Rafting → Skiing → Eating Yanbian Cuisine - Woke up at 6:30 am to go rafting at the Magic World Rime Ice Ridge. This is the best time to go, as the rime ice is thickest, there's mist on the river, and the trees on both banks are covered in frost. Rafting tickets are 150 yuan per person. The scenic area provides waterproof clothing and rain boots. Although they're bulky, they don't leak, but your hands and feet will get cold. I recommend carrying two hand warmers in your pockets. - In the afternoon, went to Changbai Mountain Red Pine King Ski Resort. The slopes aren't steep, suitable for beginners. Renting skis, boots, and poles costs 80 yuan per person. You can ski slowly even without an instructor. I fell three times but got the hang of it. My best friend held onto the railing the whole time, and I laughed so hard I couldn't straighten up. - In the evening, we went to Songfujia Yanbian Traditional Cuisine. We ordered bibimbap (30 yuan), miso soup (25 yuan), and pan-fried mackerel (40 yuan). The crispy rice at the bottom of the bibimbap was delicious, and I ate a whole bowl with the chili sauce. The miso soup with rice was warm and comforting, perfect for after skiing. III. Practical Tips: A Must-Read for Those Who Get Cold Easily 1. Transportation: Flying from Hangzhou to Changbai Mountain with a stopover in Changchun is half the price of a direct flight. Buy tickets a month in advance, and round-trip tickets are only 800 yuan. Sharing a ride locally is the most cost-effective. You can find shared rides from Erdaobaihe Town to the scenic area and rafting spots for 20-50 yuan per person, cheaper than taking a taxi. 2. Clothing: A fleece-lined windbreaker and snow boots are essential! Wear a thin sweater and thermal underwear underneath, and a windproof and waterproof jacket on top. Also bring a brightly colored scarf and a woolen hat; they'll not only keep you warm but also make you stand out in photos. 3. Avoid these pitfalls: ① Snacks are expensive at the summit. A bottle of mineral water costs 10 yuan, three times more expensive than at the foot of the mountain. Bring some chocolate and energy bars to replenish your energy. ② Don't go rafting too late. The rime ice will dissipate after 8 pm, making your trip a waste. ③ Make sure to use hand warmers on your phone! The temperature is low at the summit, and your phone will easily shut down. I used two hand warmers and still had 50% battery left after 20 minutes of shooting. 4. Save money: Sharing rides and meals can save a lot of money. We shared rides and meals with two other tourists, saving each person 200 yuan. Renting a coat at the scenic area entrance is cheaper than at the summit; don't wait until you get there to rent one, as prices will increase. Now, thinking back on Changbai Mountain, I absolutely do not regret this trip! #A Journey Like a Song #Having Fun with Friends #Great Places to Relax #Budget Travel Guide
