With a deeper understanding of pure and secret over the past year, when I re-examined the Dafowan stone carvings, I found that my previous understanding was very superficial. I admire the confidence and control of the Song people in culture, eliminating and adjusting conflicting principles, integrating Zen, pure and secret, Pure Land Transformation, Ksitigarbha Transformation, Filial Piety and Taoism, forming a magnificent narrative script. The most worth seeing stone carvings in Beishan, Dazu is the statue of Vaisravana. Compared with the Nankan in Bazhong, the Beishan statue is more majestic and has transformed from the god of wealth to the god of war in terms of function. This is also the need and epitome of an era. If Baodingshan is a localized system of sayings, then Beishan is a model of the unity of Zen and Pure Land Buddhism, the unity of exoteric and esoteric Buddhism, and the inclusiveness of benevolence, righteousness, purity, and perfect enlightenment.
