Yunnan is one of China's most beautiful regions, in my opinion, and the Yulong Snow Mountain is for sure one of its most iconic highlights.
Usually I like visiting independent different attractions or landmarks but this time the itinerary was a bit complex (the timing was very important in order to reach all points) and I also never been to such a high altitude. As you can guess I end up chosing an organized trip for a carefree experience, and I can further recommend it as the driver was providing us with very detailed information and useful advice for handling the possible altitude sickness both during and after the trip. (They also provided jackets in the morning for the cold, portable oxygen bottles and lunch, so it was a complete service.)
I didn't use any supplemental oxygen, but I really took my time while climbing the stairs to reach the 4680 platform. I recommend everyone to be cautious and not to push themselves: take it slow if you have a good breathing technique, use the oxygen can if needed or if you symptoms are severe return to a lower altitude as soon as possible.
As for the visited places, really nothing to skip. The Blue Moon Valley, the Glacier Park, and the Impression Lijiang are all stunning.
I saw all that without any special planning of my own or much time spent on research, so it is true, sometimes an organized trip really is the best option.

Impressions Lijiang: A Spectacular Show Against Snowy Peaks đđ
Get ready to experience Impressions Lijiangâa jaw-dropping open-air performance at the foot of Yulong Snow Mountain. The natural mountain backdrop makes every scene feel epic, and the dazzling choreography will leave you absolutely mesmerized. Itâs not just a showâitâs an immersion into Yunnanâs culture and landscape!
đ¸ Top Photo Spots:
The best âinsta-worthyâ moment is during daylight, when the performers are framed perfectly against the snowy Jade Dragon Mountain. Capture panoramic shots from your seat, or head to the edge for those wide-angle landscape shots. The striking contrast of vibrant costumes with the serene mountain is a must!
đ Practical Tips:
Shows typically run in the daytime, so bring sunglasses and a hatâsunlight can be intense! Dress in layers; mountain weather changes fast. Tickets sell out, especially in peak season, so book ahead. And be preparedâthe performance is outdoors, so rain can happen (a raincoat is way better than an umbrella!).
â ď¸ Precautions:
Altitude can be tiringâpace yourself and drink plenty of water. If youâre sensitive to sun, donât forget sunscreen!
