The mausoleums primarily include the tombs of Liang Gongwang Liu Mai, Liang Xiaowang Liu Wu, and the queen. They're worth a visit to learn about Han Dynasty culture, though the ticket checks are a bit excessive. The painted murals at Liang Gongwang's mausoleum were particularly impressive. They predate the Dunhuang murals by 630 years. To avoid taboos about their father's name, the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, and Vermillion Bird are depicted, while the Black Tortoise is replaced by a mythical creature with a duck's bill, a fish's tail, and a giant spike. 5.5 tons of copper coins were unearthed from the coin pit. The mausoleum of Liang Xiaowang's queen is the largest cliff tomb discovered in China. The entrance fee is cheap, but I don't recommend entering from the south gate as it's too remote and requires a long walk. Overall, it's not bad, and it's a good choice for taking kids out on weekends.
