Things to do in Shache

I've always longed to see the green-gold sarcophagi in the Aletun Mazar Open-Air Cemetery in Shache. Finally…🛑 Here lies the authentic double sarcophagi of Rashid Khan and Amanisha Khan of the Yarkand Khanate, dating back to the mid-16th century, a Ming Dynasty relic, over 400 years ago. The long, rectangular sarcophagi are adorned with arched gates at both ends, painted in gold on a green background. Green symbolizes the oasis and paradise, while gold represents sanctity. The outer walls feature abstract scrolls and geometric patterns, and the arches are inscribed with Quranic prayers, without any biographical details. The Yarkand Khanate was a regional regime in southern Xinjiang with Shache as its capital from the 15th to the 17th centuries, reaching its cultural peak in the 16th century, where the Twelve Muqam were established. It was later destroyed by the Dzungars. I gazed silently at the two green-gold sarcophagi, over 400 years old. According to old burial customs, the remains are buried deep in the soil below, not inside the stone coffin; it is merely a marker above the tomb. Carefully studying the patterns and inscriptions on it, one can imagine the dedication Amanisha Khan poured into the Twelve Muqam.

The Shache Mansion Scenic Area is also the Memorial Hall of the Shache Defense War in the Qing Dynasty. There are not many well-preserved historical attractions in Shache City, but it is still worth a visit. As a memorial hall, the introduction of historical sites is still a little lacking. The deeds of the Shache military and civilians in resisting foreign invasions and winning can be used as a case of patriotism education. In terms of transportation, if you don't drive yourself, it is still very convenient to walk.

The Twelve Muqam performance in Shache Old Town is a must-see. There are two shows a day, and the price is quite reasonable, which is indeed in line with expectations. It mainly focuses on classical music, so don't have too high expectations for the song and dance.

The ancient city gate of Shache is newly built, and the city walls on the side should be left over from the original ones. The city walls in southern Xinjiang are all rammed earth structures, and the strength is acceptable because of the dry weather and little rain, eliminating the trouble of making city bricks. The county town is not big, and the location of the ancient city gate is already a bit remote. The city gate is open to traffic, and there are not many passing vehicles. It is very suitable for taking photos and checking in.

The Yarkand River has beautiful scenery, with blue sky, white clouds and clear water. It is very pure and beautiful, very interesting and cost-effective. It is a good choice with a wide view and pure natural scenery that is refreshing.

Karsu National Desert Park is a breathtaking tourist destination. It boasts a vast expanse of sand, with undulating dunes stretching into the distance. It's not interesting, don't go. The shuttle bus says it's 13 kilometers round trip, but I used two steps to measure the one-way distance and it was only kilometers.

This is a place in Shache County with unique exotic cultural characteristics. Although language communication is somewhat inconvenient, the cultural atmosphere is very strong.
