Tojinbo is located in the northern part of Fukui Prefecture, and it is a rocky cliff on the Sea of Japan coast adjacent to Ishikawa Prefecture. Due to years of erosion by sea waves, it appears very steep and rugged, and it is one of the representative attractions of Fukui, Although it is a sea cliff, Tojinbo has no sandy beach, only steep rock walls. 90-degree cliffs stand in rows in the seawater. Here, you can observe pyroxene andesite columns with columnar joints (pentagonal or hexagonal columnar rock blocks), which are very rare not only in Japan but also in the world, as there are only 3 places in the world where such rock columns can be seen.Sakai · 12.3km from downtown

The Yanghaokan Garden, a private garden built around 1699, was the villa garden of the Matsudaira family, the lord of the Fukui Domain at that time. classic. In the Edo period, there was another name for Mizuen-suiyashiki, and it was designated as a national scenic spot. It was a particularly quiet place to experience a typical Japanese-style room garden. In 1945, Yangkokan was destroyed in a major air raid. In 1994, it was rebuilt based on the preserved drawings "Fingering Map of Imperial Springs".Fukui City · 11km from Sakai

Eihei-ji Temple is located in Eihei-ji-cho, Yoshida-gun, Fukui Prefecture. It is the main temple of the Soto Zen sect, known as "Kushi-san." It was founded in 1244 by Dogen Zenji as a center for the practice of zazen. Dogen Zenji was born in Kyoto in 1200 and became a monk on Mount Hiei at the age of 14. In the spring of his 24th year, he traveled to Mount Tendo in China to study under Master Nyojo, inheriting the Buddhist teachings of "zazen" (sitting meditation) from Sakyamuni Buddha and returning to Japan. The temple was built according to the style of Mingzhou Zen temples from the Song Dynasty, displaying a typical layout of Zen temples. The ancient temple remains well-preserved, with its simple wooden architecture. The central focus of practice here is zazen, but zazen is not the only aspect. It is important to integrate the spirit of zazen into daily life. For example, the monks' daily work of wiping the corridors with cloths is a form of "dynamic zazen." The brochure has pictures of monks wiping the floor, just like Ikkyu in the cartoon. Visitors interested in praying or learning about Zen meditation may want to take a look.Eiheiji · 16.7km from Sakai

I went there imagining a scene from a suspense movie, but perhaps because the weather was nice, it was bright and the view was great, and it didn't feel dark at all. That said, it was quite high up towards the edge of the rocky area, which was a little scary. There were many souvenir shops and restaurants on the way to the parking lot, but many were closed, giving it a slightly deserted feel. I think it's worth visiting at least once!

Maruoka Castle is one of the top 100 famous castles in Japan and an important cultural property. It is a flat mountain castle with the oldest castle tower in Japan. Maruoka Castle is also known as Kasumi Castle. In the spring, cherry blossoms bloom around the ancient castle. From a distance, it seems to be hidden in the sunset. It is also a popular cherry blossom viewing spot. Maruoka Castle was built in the Warring States Period and has been governed by four generations of castle lords from different forces. It is also a tourist attraction that local residents are proud of.

Figure 1 shows the store where the food voucher can be used; other stores don't accept it. It's a Mario-themed food store. I selected the starred item priced at 1100, and although it exceeded 1000, they didn't ask me to pay an extra 100. All the food items there could be redeemed; they were beautifully presented and delicious.

The Yokokan Garden is the villa of the Matsudaira family, the feudal lord. It was renovated by the 7th generation Yoshida. The building is surrounded by a strolling garden with forests and springs. Due to partial damage, it took several years to restore it to its current appearance.

I recommend the 1-hour Zen meditation experience. You will be taught by a monk! The temple grounds are spacious and surrounded by nature, and it feels great. There are souvenir shops, soba restaurants, and restaurants serving miso cutlets nearby, so it's a great place for lunch.
