Sorrento

Sorrento is located near the Bay of Naples, with the entire town built atop seaside cliffs. The famous Italian song "Come Back to Sorrento" sings of this very town. The song has been sung for a century and has become a unique cultural symbol of Sorrento. The 16th-century poet Tasso was also born here, and the town square is named after him. The town is surrounded by lemon groves and olive trees, and Limoncello, a lemon liqueur made from local lemons, is a signature specialty of Sorrento. Piazza Torquato Tasso is the central starting point for sightseeing. Next to the square is the Valley of the Mills, a deep gorge embedded in the heart of the city, where abandoned old mills remain at the bottom, overgrown with vegetation. The Cloister of San Francesco was built in the 14th century, with arches and columns arranged in an interlaced pattern along the cloister. Museo Correale houses medieval sculptures, paintings, and local decorative arts, while the Museum of Wood Inlay is dedicated to showcasing the wood inlay craftsmanship that has continued in Sorrento for hundreds of years. Looking out from the edge of the cliffs, you can see the silhouette of Mount Vesuvius and Capri. The streets and alleys of the old town are winding, and the Marina Grande fishing village on the coast retains a rustic atmosphere, with colorful houses arranged along the harbor.Italy · Sorrento

Amalfi Coast

Amalfi Coast is a stretch of coastline on the southern side of the Sorrento Peninsula in the province of Salerno, southern Italy. It extends from Positano in the west to Vietri sul Mare in the east, with over a dozen coastal towns built into the cliffs along the way. Steep cliffs, terraced hillsides, and the deep blue Tyrrhenian Sea form the core scenery here. The terraces are planted with lemon trees, grapevines, and olive trees, presenting a typical Mediterranean coastal landscape. The representative towns along the coast each have their own unique characteristics. Positano is famous for its cascading colorful houses and steep stone steps, with buildings clinging to the hillside from the beach upwards; the town of Amalfi was once the center of a medieval maritime republic, and it is filled with narrow alleys and staircases, where the facade of theCathedral of St. Andrew, blending Arab and Norman styles, is a landmark of the town; Ravello sits high on a ridge, and the gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone offer views overlooking the entire coastline, among which the "Terrace of Infinity" at Villa Cimbrone is a viewing spot for a panoramic view of the coast. Vietri sul Mare is known for its traditional handmade ceramics, and colorful pottery shops can be seen everywhere in the town. The "Path of the Gods" from Agerola to Positano is a classic hiking route. It follows the ridge, offering high-altitude views of the coastline and the full panorama of the towns along the way. The region is famous for a slender variety of Amalfi lemon, and the local limoncello made from it is also a specialty. The coastal road is winding and narrow, prone to traffic jams in summer, and ferries are also available for travel between the towns.Italy · Amalfi

Mount Etna is located on the east coast of Sicily and is the highest active volcano in Europe, with an altitude of more than 3,200 meters. This is also the most frequently erupted volcano in the world, with more than 200 smaller volcanic cones around it, and during periods of intense activity, a large amount of lava often flows out. Tourists can take the ropeway cable car, and then transfer to the special sightseeing bus for mountaineering to arrive near the crater, and watch the lava flow and hot spring waterfall, as well as the unique landscape of the black volcanic heap. In summer, there are also outdoor activities such as volcano trekking groups, and the scenery at the top at sunset is particularly beautiful. If you are interested and have time, you can sign up. In winter, it turns into a ski area.Castiglione di Sicilia · 82.7km from Lipari

Stair of the Turks

16 reviews
Stair of the Turks is a stretch of white cliff on the southwest coast of Sicily. The entire cliff is composed of soft white marl, and the rock layers have been polished by wind and waves over the years, rising from the sea in layers like natural steps, which is how it got the name "Stair." The "Turks" part comes from North African pirates, whom the locals collectively called "Turks" in the Middle Ages. They often used this sheltered white cliff as a place to dock and hide. This layer of white rock was formed by the calcareous remains of countless tiny plankton deposited on the seabed during an ancient era when the Mediterranean Sea nearly dried up and was subsequently refilled, and marine fossils can still be found in the rock layers today. The white cliffs are flanked by golden beaches, with blue-green seawater surging against the pure white base of the cliffs. At sunset, the white rock surface reflects faint pink and orange hues, making it a classic time for sightseeing and photography. It became more widely known after the movie "Malèna" was filmed here, and it was also written about by Italian author Andrea Camilleri in his "Inspector Montalbano" series. The white cliff rock is soft and easily weathered, and there is an observation deck at the top of the cliff, which is an open spot for overlooking the entire coastline.Italy · Realmonte

Old Mint Streetis a narrow, steep street in the old town of Valletta, the capital of Malta, stretching from the city gate down the slope toward the sea. The "Mint" in the street name is a literal translation of the English word "mint," which actually refers not to the herb, but to the minting workshop established on this street during the time of the Knights Hospitaller. In Maltese, it is still called "Mint Street" today. The street is lined with old houses built of honey-colored limestone, with colorful enclosed wooden balconies cantilevered from the walls. The red, green, and blue paint against the warm yellow walls creates one of the most recognizable streetscapes in Valletta.Malta · Valletta

Piazza IX Aprile is the heart of the old town of Taormina. The square is paved with striking black-and-white checkerboard tiles and features an open viewing railing on the side facing the sea. From the railing, you can take in the panoramic views of the Ionian Sea, the bay, and the distant volcano, making it a distinctive viewing terrace with magnificent vistas. The square is surrounded by a wealth of cultural architecture: the old clock tower stands tall, with a Baroque-style church nearby and quaint historical buildings on the other side, where different architectural styles interweave to create a rich old-town atmosphere. During the day, it feels like a lively open-air living room, where street performers and the terraces of surrounding cafes complement each other. At dusk, the setting sun bathes the church facade and clock tower in warm colors, casting long shadows across the checkerboard tiles and showcasing the charming character of a Mediterranean town.Taormina · 78km from Lipari

Upper Barrakkais located on the ramparts of Valletta overlooking the Grand Harbour, built on the top tier of the St. Peter and St. Paul Bastion. The garden's seaside colonnade was built in 1661, commissioned by the Italian knights of the Order of St. John; originally covered, it was later converted into the open-air style seen today. Walk along the row of arches to the viewing platform, where you can take in the blue waters of the Grand Harbour and the Three Cities on the opposite shore; the port shipyards and the old and new streets in the lower parts of Valletta are also clearly visible. Several statues and monuments are scattered between the columns, including a replica of "Street Urchins" by Maltese sculptor Antonio Sciortino, which is worth a closer look. It is a perfect place for a leisurely stroll.Malta · Valletta

Quattro Canti is a distinctive intersection formed by the crossing of two main streets in the heart of the old town of Palermo. It is famous for the exquisite Baroque architecture at its four corners, and locals also call it the Theater of the Sun. The square has an octagonal plan, with concave curved walls adorned with layered columns, embracing the intersection like an exquisite stage set, showcasing a unique architectural aesthetic. The building facades on the four sides of the intersection are decorated in multiple layers from bottom to top: the ground level is adorned with fountains and statues symbolizing the four seasons, the middle level features sculptures of past rulers in niches, and the top level is carved with the city's patron saints, with intricate reliefs and layered colonnades weaving together a rich visual depth. This intersection, full of local atmosphere, is surrounded by numerous historical and cultural sights. Old Mint Street, located in Valletta's Old Town, is a steep street offering views of the sea and distant church domes. The houses on both sides are built of tan limestone, some walls covered in vines, and stained-glass windows gleaming in the sunlight. The street is narrow, with little traffic, perfect for a leisurely stroll, where you might occasionally encounter locals chatting on the steps. In the evening, the slanting sunlight casts long shadows, making the street feel quiet. A little further up, the outline of Castel Saint-Elmo comes into view.

Taormina, in the past, many writers, poets, and stars would come here for vacation. Many beautiful legends and scenery about Taormina were left in novels. There are many orange trees here, the sun is shining, and there must be a cathedral in Piazza 9 April.
