Shuidonggou is a Paleolithic cultural site excavated in China. It is known as "the birthplace of Chinese prehistoric archaeology" and "a historical witness of cultural exchanges between China and the West". It is a national key cultural relic protection unit, a national AAAAA-level tourist Attraction, and a national geological park. It is listed by the state as one of the 100 major sites under national cultural relic protection and one of the "100 archaeological discoveries of great significance to Chinese civilization". The Shuidonggou site records the historical witness of the reproduction and struggle of ancient humans with nature, and contains rich and precious prehistoric data. It shows people the survival picture of ancient humans 40,000 years ago. It is the Paleolithic site that has been officially excavated in the Yellow River region in China so far. In 1923, French paleontologists Teilhard and Sang Zhihua discovered a prehistoric cultural site here. Through excavation, a large number of stone tools and animal fossils were unearthed. Shuidonggou has therefore become the ancient human cultural site where the Paleolithic Age was discovered in China. Today, over the past 80 years, after six archaeological excavations, more than 30,000 stone tools and 67 ancient animal fossils have been unearthed in Shuidonggou. Shuidonggou is also a well-preserved military defense architecture in northern my country, including the ancient Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty, the Hengcheng Dabian, beacon towers, city barriers, forts, and caves for hiding soldiers. Shuidonggou is located on the southern edge of the Ordos plateau. The Yadan landform created by nature has experienced tens of millions of years of wind and sand erosion. There are more than 20 unique earth forest landscapes here, including the Devil City, Wotuo Ridge, Motian Cliff, Duanyun Valley, and Tamarix Valley.Lingwu · 26.3km from downtown

In the deep and unfathomable canyon between Shuidonggou and Hongshanbao, there is a cave for hiding soldiers from the Ming Dynasty more than 500 years ago. It is even more magical with the majestic Great Wall, steep cliffs and mysterious ancient castles. The cave for hiding soldiers from the Shuidonggou is branched inside, like a maze. In the nearly 1,000-meter-long tunnel that has been cleared, there are more than 20 earthen rooms, including small granaries, wells, kitchen stoves, armories, gunpowder stores, traps, hidden weapon channels and artillery platforms pointing to the Grand Canyon. There are small niches on the walls of the earthen rooms, with broken pottery placed there, which seem to be oil lamps. On the ground, you can also find the remains of weapons from the Ming Dynasty, coins, and porcelain fragments.Lingwu · 25.4km from downtown

Xixia Imperial Tombs, located in the western suburbs of YinchuanHelan MountainThe Western Xia Mausoleum served as the royal burial site of the Western Xia Dynasty, where several emperors were interred. Today, the entire mausoleum complex contains 9 imperial tombs and over 140 accompanying burial sites, making it one of the largest royal burial grounds in Chinese history by area. The tombs feature a unique inverted steamed-bun shape unlike any other Chinese mausoleums. Additionally, the attraction includes facilities such as the Western Xia Mausoleum Museum, Western Xia Mausoleum - Western Xia Historical Art Gallery, and Western Xia Stele Forest to help visitors understand the historical and cultural significance behind these tombs. The attraction currently has mausoleums No. 1, 2, and 3 open for visitors. Mausoleum No. 3 (the "Tai Mausoleum" of Li Yuanhao, founding emperor of the Western Xia Dynasty) is located relatively close to The Western Xia Mausoleum's Western Xia History Art Museum and Western Xia Stele Forest. The Western Xia Dynasty was established by the Tangut people, with distinct writing systems and customs different from the Han Chinese of the Central Plains. After the dynasty's fall, its cities and history mysteriously vanished into the Gobi Desert, becoming an enduring enigma until modern discoveries and interpretations. The Western Xia Mausoleum Museum houses a rich collection of artifacts from the dynasty, including many precious stone carvings with Tangut script and murals showcasing Western Xia artistic styles. The museum offers free guides that provide fascinating insights into the customs, culture, rise, and fall of this mysterious dynasty, enhancing visitors' experience when exploring the mausoleum. On July 11, 2025, the Western Xia Mausoleum was officially inscribed on the World Heritage List. You can visit the Haowang Mausoleum up close within the attraction. The massive inverted semicircular tomb stands on the wasteland, bringing centuries of history vividly before your eyes, while in the distance...Helan MountainThe rugged ravines of the mountain ridges evoke a profound sense of desolate grandeur and timeless vicissitude. The Western Xia Mausoleum Museum inside the attraction has been newly unveiled. The exhibits are divided into six sections: history of Western Xia, Western Xia culture, Western Xia religious art, Western Xia socio-economy, Western Xia Mausoleum, and preservation & inheritance. Nearly 5,000 artifacts are displayed, including thangka paintings, documents, clay sculptures, bronze and ironware, textiles, and porcelain. Many of these are exquisite cultural relics unearthed during recent archaeological research at the Western Xia Mausoleum.Yinchuan · 48km from Lingwu

As a historical museum, the Ningxia Lingwu Dinosaur Geological Museum displays the world's largest dinosaur femur replica and the original Asia's largest dinosaur model - the replica of the Sichuan Hechuan Mamenchisaurus, which is 22 meters long and 10 meters high. There are also animal fossils such as the dromaeosaur, the oviraptor and dinosaur eggs, the wolf-finned fish, the loon, the skull of the large-lipped rhinoceros, and the turtle. The Lingwu dinosaur fossils were identified by Xu Xing, a researcher at the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and an internationally renowned dinosaur expert. They belong to a rare branch of the diplodocids - the forkbacks, and are large new sauropod herbivorous dinosaurs of the Mesozoic Middle Jurassic, about 160 million years ago. The Lingwu dinosaur is one of the largest species of sauropod dinosaurs known in China. Some data, such as the length of the dorsal vertebrae, even exceed all known dinosaur species. The diplodocus was discovered for the first time north of the equator. The Lingwu dinosaur can be called the "first dragon in the northern hemisphere" and is a national treasure-level dinosaur fossil. The Lingwu dinosaur fossil site is the largest dinosaur fossil discovered in China so far, with a concentrated distribution, complete preservation, and an undamaged Souvenir environment. It is of great significance to the study of sauropod dinosaur morphology, taxonomy and systematic evolution, and provides important information for understanding the Mesozoic geography and the formation of global paleozoological geography. It provides precious physical materials and important scientific information for displaying prehistoric ecological landscapes, studying the geography and climate of the ancient northwest region, the reproduction, migration, extinction of dinosaur species and the theory of the drift of the earth's continental plates.Lingwu · 29km from downtown

Zhenbeibao Western Cinema is located in Xixia District, Yinchuan City. In this studio, which is characterized by simplicity, roughness and desolation, classic films such as "Wrangler", "Red Sorghum", "Journey to the West", "Thorn Mausoleum", "Jin Yiwei" and hundreds of influential film and television films were filmed. In the remaining part, a large number of celebrities from the Chinese film industry have left their footprints here, such as Gong Li, Jiang Wen, Zhang Yimou, Ge You, Zhou Xingchi, Donnie Yen and so on. The cinema consists of three parts: Mingcheng, Qingcheng and Old Yinchuan Street. Tourists can visit the cinema along the "figure 8" route of Old Yinchuan Street. Here, you can see the appearance of Yinchuan in the first half of the 20th century, and eat local traditional snacks such as mutton soup. The Ming and Qing cities in the film city were rebuilt from the military castles left over from the Ming and Qing dynasties. In the Ming and Qing cities, you can see many familiar movie scenes, such as: the gate tower where Sun Wukong and Fairy Zixia are standing in "Journey to the West", the throne of the Bull Demon King, the torture platform of the Tang monk; and the movie "Journey to the West" The Moon Gate in "Red Sorghum", the winemaking workshop where "My Grandpa" urinated after being drunk, the sedan chair that Jiu'er took when he got married, the big vat for wine, and the bowls. There are costumes and props for rent in many places in the studio. Here, you can wear a set of costumes in the play, use the props in the movie, and walk around the scenes of the movie to live the addiction of being a star. Before going to Zhenbeibao Western Studios, you can revisit a few classic movies first, and then go to visit, you will have a different feeling.Yinchuan · 61.6km from Lingwu

Dong Mansion is located in Lutianwazi Village, Jinji Town, Wuzhong City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It was the residence of Dong Fuxiang, a famous general and governor of Gansu Province in the late Qing Dynasty. Because Dong Fuxiang was once awarded the title of "Prince's Guardian", it is also called "Gongbao Mansion". Dong Mansion was built in 1902 and completed in 1905. When it was first built, it covered an area of more than 100 acres and consisted of four parts: Hufu River, Fukuoka, Outer Mansion and Inner Mansion. After a hundred years, only the Inner Mansion Wall and the Siheyuan Building Complex in the Mansion are left, covering an area of 14,391 square meters and a construction area of 8,721.9 square meters. Dong Fuxiang (1840-1908), courtesy name Xingwu, was a native of Guyuan, Gansu (now in Ningxia) during the Qing Dynasty. He served as Shangshu Admiral. In 1876 (the second year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu), Dong Fuxiang followed Zuo Zongtang into Xinjiang and participated in the battle to pacify Yakub Beg. After recovering Xinjiang, he served as the general of Aksu Town and the governor of Kashgar, and was stationed in Xinjiang for 16 years. In 1894, he was transferred to the capital due to the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895. In 1898, his Gansu Army was incorporated into the Wuwei Army under Ronglu and became one of the three armies of the Beiyang Army. In 1900, the Eight-Nation Alliance invaded Beijing, and he led his troops to resist with all his strength, but was subsequently dismissed due to pressure from the powers. In 1902, Dong Fuxiang chose Jinjibao as the site to build the Dong Mansion. In February 1908, he died of illness in Jinjibao, Ningxia, and was buried in Wangchaoshan, Guyuan. The site of Dong Mansion was originally a lake, and it was built with rammed earth. The craftsmen and materials used were selected from all over the country. The wood came from Gannan; the stone came from Shaanxi; most of the carpenters came from Sichuan, most of the blacksmiths came from Baotou, and the stonemasons came from Shaanxi; the bricks, tiles and lime were all fired on site. It took more than three years, more than three million workers, five million catties of grain, and three hundred thousand taels of silver.Wuzhong · 30km from Lingwu

Shuidonggou is a place that simultaneously possesses a 40,000-year-old Paleolithic human site and an underground military fortress of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall, allowing you to travel from prehistoric times to the Ming Dynasty frontier in one go! However, having seen the Great Wall beyond the Great Wall in Shanxi, this section of the Ming Great Wall is rather ordinary. Just take a look; it's a pity for the horses and camels pulling the carts. Electric carts could easily take you there, but they insist on using horses and camels, purely to charge more money. The hidden military tunnels at the back, however, are quite interesting and unique, with various traps and mechanisms underground—it's the first time I've seen them in person!

The Soldier Storage Cave was not built by the scenic spot to attract tourists, but it was actually used for actual combat more than 500 years ago. It is simply wonderful. It can be said to be the underground warfare of the Ming Dynasty, and its scale is much stronger than the underground fortifications of the underground warfare. The Soldier Storage Cave was a place for hiding soldiers and goods at the border of the Ming Dynasty. Its tunnels meander through the cliffs of the 3-kilometer-long canyon, forming a tunnel network that is connected up and down, left and right, and leads in all directions.

At present, some scenic spots are open. The museum has free explanations, which is very good. It took an hour to organize the tour. There were not many people. It was pretty good. The wolfberry cakes in Zhangsan's shop were delicious. They were made on the spot and you can take some back.

We entered the park at 4 PM and left around 6:30 PM during the National Day holiday. We visited Tomb No. 3, the Twin Tombs, and Tomb No. 5 one by one. The museum was closed, so we didn't go. There were shuttle buses at each stop, and we also bought horse-drawn carriage tickets. Overall, the walking distance wasn't much, and the waiting time for the buses wasn't long. However, the experience wasn't as good as just reading the written descriptions. It was difficult to find a tour guide if you didn't have a group of at least 10 people. As a newly added World Heritage Site, it's not far from achieving 5A status.

There are two floors in total. There are two pits on the first floor. You can look inside through a glass cover. You can't see the middle one clearly. In the other pit, you can stand on the glass and look down. There are only two dragons. Then there is a pit upstairs. There are several dragon bones and a screening room. There are introductions to Lingwu. That's it. There are several fake dinosaurs in the wasteland outside. There are thorns all over the ground. I pierced my shoe sole. There is also a cute pet park with a rabbit and several peacocks and pigeons. If you like paleontology, go to the Dawukou Museum. There are many more things than this, and it's free.

It's quite famous, being a filming location for movies like "A Chinese Odyssey" and "Red Sorghum," and the film sets have a strong sense of Northwest China's rugged landscape, making it a good place for movie fans to take photos. However, the overall experience is just average. The park has many dirt roads, is windy and dusty, and sunny. Aside from taking photos, there's not much to see or do. If you're not particularly attached to the movies, don't have too high expectations.

This trip to Hunan was an excellent experience from start to finish. Our tour guide, Mi, was highly responsible and attentive to everyone. When some tourists experienced motion sickness, she promptly provided drinking water and motion sickness medication to comfort them. Even when we encountered a traffic accident and the scene was chaotic, she calmly and effectively calmed everyone down. Throughout the trip, she took excellent care of each tourist, demonstrating dedication and reliability. It was a very worthwhile trip.

The moment the accelerator was pressed, the speedboat, nicknamed the "Ferrari of the water," shot off like an arrow, slicing through the mirror-like surface. The wind whistled past our ears, and tiny waves gently grazed the hull, leaving smooth white trails. Our vision unfolded along the expansive water, the outline of Lanshan Park gradually becoming clear along the shoreline. The dark green mountains, shrouded in lush vegetation, reflected in the shimmering water, while pavilions nestled among the trees added a touch of tranquility. The entire journey was seamless; the speed of the speedboat cutting through the waves blended perfectly with the breathtaking scenery, every second filled with exhilarating joy. A sea breeze carrying a light mist brushed against our faces, and the next stop was slowly approaching along the channel. This water journey, combining speed and magnificent scenery, was a truly fulfilling experience.
