Jalan Tan Hiok Neeis an old street with a strong Chinese cultural atmosphere in the old town of Johor Bahru, with a total length of approx. 300 m. The street is named after Tan Hiok Nee, a Teochew merchant who developed markets and traded gambier and pepper along the Segget River in the 19th century and was later appointed as the leader of the Chinese community by the Sultan of Johor. Rows of old Nanyang-style shophouses are preserved on both sides of the street. The five-foot way corridors, wooden louvered windows, and Western-style relief facades still maintain their original appearance. The old walls in the back alleys are painted with murals depicting themes such as the port master's wharf loading gambier, wood-fired bread baking, and teh tarik, making it a great place for taking photos while walking around.Malaysia · Johor Bahru

Great educational fruit tour where you get to know the local fruits. They also have paintball and a shop where you can purchase fruits and other snacks. See the bee at work & tasting of raw honey in our farm. Grab some Local Products or Fresh Fruits at the Mini Mart in the Fruit Farm. The journey started with a guided farm tour to 180 acres, natural tropical fruit land, visit to agricultural gallery, fish pond and vegetable and herb garden. Children also visited the petting Zoo and had an educational talk on bees and the opportunity to taste local raw honey. The vehicle arrived on time, ran smoothly, and the border crossing was also easy; the driver provided helpful reminders. For foreign tourists, having a clearer picture of the waiting area would make things much more reassuring. Upon arriving at the waiting point, I had to ask several people before I could determine where to wait.

The tour guide was humorous and enthusiastic. She tried to explain the different types of local fruits and how they were used in daily life. We also got to see a koi pond and chickens raised in a kampung setting. The bee rearing section was off limits but tasting of honey products was allowed with discounts for tour participants. Overall it was a decent experience for kids who are used to urban living.

Last year, I was visted Johor Ancient Temple, located in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. It is dedicated to five deities worshipped by different Chinese dialect groups, symbolizing unity. The temple’s red-and-white architecture stands out amid modern skyscrapers, offering a glimpse into the city’s heritage. In my opinion, its peaceful atmosphere, intricate carvings, and annual Chingay Parade. However, some find it small and crowded during festivals.Overall, it’s a must-visit for history and cultur
