Aragonese Castle

Aragonese Castle

4.1
The old town of Taranto sits on a small island, with the 15th-century Aragonese Castle standing at its southern tip, guarding the bridge that connects the old and new towns. Its structure is truly unique, featuring sturdy breakwaters that stretch into the sea and waves crashing against its base, creating a magnificent view. The Aragonese Castle now serves as a base for the Italian Navy. Across from it, you can also see the ruins of the Temple of Poseidon in Taranto.Ischia · 1.5km from downtown

Blue Grotto

Blue Grotto is a sea cave on the northwest coast of Capri and an iconic local landmark. The magic of this cave lies in its unique visual effects. The entrance is low and narrow, allowing only small wooden boats to enter and exit when the sea is calm. Sunlight enters through an underwater opening below the entrance, and blue light diffuses upward through the water, illuminating the entire cave chamber in a deep blue. The seawater inside the cave is a transparent gem-like blue, and objects submerged in the water take on a silvery glow, showcasing a magical charm of light and shadow. Taking a boat into the cave is a unique experience: at the entrance, visitors transfer to small wooden boats rowed by local boatmen and lie down in the bottom of the boat. The boatman uses fixed facilities on the rock wall to guide the boat into the cave. Along the way, you can experience the unique blend of cave echoes and water colors, offering visitors a profound visual and sensory experience.Anacapri · 29.3km from Ischia

illadei Misteri, which is one of the intact buildings in Pompeii. Walk in and take a look. On the wall of the large dining room is a huge mural "Dionysiac Frieze", which describes the ceremony of worshipping the god of wine by a girl who was about to get married at that time. There is a Vesuvius Museum (Museo Vesuviano) in the southeast outside the ancient city ruins. On ViaColleSanBartolomeo Street, you can visit for free and see many interesting unearthed cultural relics. It is open Monday-Friday 9:00-13:00.Pompei · 45.5km from Ischia

Royal Palace of Naples

Royal Palace of Naples faces the open Piazza del Plebiscito and is one of the landmarks of the historic center of Naples. It was originally used as the Spanish Viceroy's Palace, became the royal palace of the Bourbon dynasty after the 18th century, and was long the center of power for the Kingdom of Naples. The current facade, after extensive renovations in the 19th century, presents a neoclassical style. A row of niches on the ground floor contains eight marble statues of kings, ranging from the monarchs of the Norman dynasty to the king who unified Italy, presenting a timeline of the city's centuries of dynastic changes. The west side of the palace is open to the public as a museum. Along the visitor route, you can enter royal living spaces such as the ceremonial suites and the Throne Room. The interior is furnished with 18th- to 19th-century furniture, porcelain, tapestries, and paintings, including works from the Neapolitan School. The small and exquisite Court Theater is still in use today, and the royal chapel is also on the route. In the entrance courtyard, a wide, double-flight staircase rises to greet you. The rear of the palace also conceals a hanging garden, with a long, green terrace suspended between the floors. The east wing of the palace houses the Vittorio Emanuele III National Library. The collection includes ancient texts from the Farnese family, as well as nearly 2,000 papyrus scrolls unearthed in Herculaneum—they were carbonized by high temperatures and buried underground during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, making them one of the few surviving examples of ancient books. The library also preserves a fragment of a 5th-century Coptic Bible manuscript.Naples · 27.6km from Ischia

Sorrento is located near the Bay of Naples, with the entire town built atop seaside cliffs. The famous Italian song "Come Back to Sorrento" sings of this very town. The song has been sung for a century and has become a unique cultural symbol of Sorrento. The 16th-century poet Tasso was also born here, and the town square is named after him. The town is surrounded by lemon groves and olive trees, and Limoncello, a lemon liqueur made from local lemons, is a signature specialty of Sorrento. Piazza Torquato Tasso is the central starting point for sightseeing. Next to the square is the Valley of the Mills, a deep gorge embedded in the heart of the city, where abandoned old mills remain at the bottom, overgrown with vegetation. The Cloister of San Francesco was built in the 14th century, with arches and columns arranged in an interlaced pattern along the cloister. Museo Correale houses medieval sculptures, paintings, and local decorative arts, while the Museum of Wood Inlay is dedicated to showcasing the wood inlay craftsmanship that has continued in Sorrento for hundreds of years. Looking out from the edge of the cliffs, you can see the silhouette of Mount Vesuvius and Capri. The streets and alleys of the old town are winding, and the Marina Grande fishing village on the coast retains a rustic atmosphere, with colorful houses arranged along the harbor.Sorrento · 38.1km from Ischia

peaceful and calm island. and very expensive, just keep it in mind when you planning to visit if you not limited in budget stay here for two nights and enjoy amazing food and ambiance. Everything is very close, you have so many chances to meet celebrities, politicians in cafes or restaurants.but if you are not ready to pay 2000€ for one night in hotel, you could visit the island just with day trip by boat

Capri Island has the Blue Grotto, which is known as one of the seven wonders of the world. The Blue Grotto is a limestone terrain and a sea cave. The entrance is under the cliff and is very small. The height above the sea surface is only 85 cm, so you can only enter by swimming or taking a boat on a calm sunny day. The Blue Grotto is called the "Blue Grotto" because the sunlight shines into the spacious cave from the narrow entrance, and is reflected by the blue water in the cave, making the entire sea cave appear a beautiful crystal blue.

That was wonderful! Ruoqing is beautiful, and her language is clear and accurate. You wouldn't even guess she's a local from Pompeii. Her descriptions of the historical sites were excellent. Thumbs up! 👍🏻👍🏻

Standing in front of a window of the palace, you can see the majestic Mount Vesuvius in the distance and the beautiful Bay of Naples nearby. It is like the princes and nobles of the past could enjoy the beautiful scenery without leaving their homes.
