Harbin Drug Group Pharmaceutical Factory 6

8.2
4.0/5
40 reviews
Harbin Drug Group Pharmaceutical Factory 6 is an old factory complex in Harbin, now a popular check-in spot dubbed the "Louvre of Northeast China." The main building, completed in 2004 with construction and decoration costs nearing CNY 100 million, bears a striking resemblance to France's Louvre, blending classical, Baroque, and Rococo European styles. Its exterior features intricate three-dimensional carvings and reliefs, with columns, doors, and windows each showcasing unique designs, creating a majestic vista from afar. Inside, the scene shifts dramatically: layers of golden ornaments adorn the space, and a massive crystal chandelier cascades from the upper floors to the second-floor hall. The corridors display European oil paintings and sculptures, earning it the playful nickname "Versailles of the Northeast." The building also houses a printmaking museum, with multiple exhibition halls showcasing works by printmakers from Heilongjiang and across China, worth lingering over. Founded in 1977, this historic pharmaceutical factory was once famous for products like Gaizhonggai, Yandi, and Hutong. After relocating entirely in 2021, the old site lay idle until reopening to the public in 2024. Its "palace-like" complex quickly went viral, attracting over a million visitors to date, making it a flagship destination for industrial tourism in Harbin. For the best experience, enter through the northeast gate, explore from the upper floors downward, and don't miss the printmaking exhibits, corridor paintings, or the grand chandelier. The main building's frontal view is partially obscured by an overpass and heavy traffic, making full shots challenging, but the exterior carvings, ground-floor hall, and colonnades offer excellent photo opportunities for a leisurely stroll.China · Harbin

Erlong Lake has beautiful natural landscapes and rich historical and cultural landscapes. The legend of Erlong Mountain is beautiful and moving. The ancient city of Heersu, the ruins of the State of Yan, and the post station of Emperor Kangxi's eastern tour tell long-standing historical stories. It's a bit far from downtown Changchun, about an hour's drive away. The automatic parking system at the entrance was a first for me, and it was free! There were even volunteers to show you how to use it – so thoughtful! The place is incredibly large; walking is impossible. A bus ride around it takes over 40 minutes. The most beautiful area is near the dam, not far from the entrance!

The best-preserved former residence of a prominent figure from the Republic of China era in Northeast China is said to be "a grand mansion that encapsulates half of the modern history of Northeast China." The Northeast Flag Change and the Yang-Chang Incident both took place here, making it an excellent site for modern history and patriotic education. The exhibits and reconstructed scenes are abundant, and the artifacts, old photos, and old furniture create a strong sense of immersion.

I regretfully missed the snow cake monkey show during the day, but a quiet stroll through the park still had its own charm. I wandered around leisurely, getting up close to the animals and encountering several rare creatures. The autumn breeze in Northeast China was so refreshing; it instantly relieved all work stress, a brief moment of healing.

Shenyang Imperial Palace. A must-see in Shenyang. Also known as the Shenyang Imperial Palace, it's a World Heritage Site and the birthplace of the Qing Dynasty. Construction began in 1625 as the palace built by Nurhaci and Hong Taiji outside the Great Wall. Along with the Forbidden City in Beijing, it is considered one of the two remaining major imperial palace complexes in China. The architecture features distinct Manchu characteristics, with yellow glazed tiles trimmed with green. The eastern section, including the Dazheng Hall and the Ten Princes' Pavilions, follows the unique Eight Banners layout; the central section, including the Chongzheng Hall, served as the imperial court; and the western section, including the Wensu Pavilion, housed the Siku Quanshu (Complete Library of the Four Treasuries). The architectural styles of Han, Manchu, and Mongolian ethnic groups blend together here.

There were so many people and tourists that I didn't have time to take in many things. It's like a low-end version of the Forbidden City in Beijing. Many of the artifacts on display were discarded from the Forbidden City. Some rooms were off-limits, so people crowded around the entrances to take photos. There was no lighting inside, so the photos didn't look great. The architecture is still quite distinctive.
