Shizhu Mountain Scenic Area

4.7
4.6/5
588 reviews
Shizhu Mountain Scenic Area is located 10 km from the western suburbs of Fuqing City, right next to Liyu Lake. You can choose to hike all the way up, or take a cable car to the halfway point and then continue on foot to save energy. Looking down from the cable car, the view of Shizhu Lake is exceptionally beautiful. Not far from the upper cable car station is Shizhu Mountain Taoist Temple halfway up the mountain. This is an ancient temple where both Buddhism and Taoism coexist. The main deities worshipped inside are not the Jade Emperor or the Three Pure Ones, but the famous Nine Immortals of the He family in Taoism. Please note that incense and candles at the foot of the mountain are usually much cheaper than those on the mountain. You may encounter "helpful people" inside the temple who guide you on how to pray; this usually incurs an extra fee. If you are not interested, you can politely decline. If you are short on time, you can return from Shizhu Mountain Taoist Temple. If you want to enjoy more natural views, you can continue along the stone steps to the summit of Shizhu Mountain Scenic Area - Zhuangyuan Peak. The two hiking trails halfway up the mountain merge at Fuqiang Pavilion into a single path leading directly to the summit. Completing the entire route requires some physical stamina.Fuqing · 9.2km from downtown

"Three Lanes and Seven Alleys" is located in the heart of Fuzhou, collectively referring to ten historic lanes and alleys lining both sides of Nanhou Street from north to south. The "three lanes" are: Shuixie Stage, Wenru Lane, and Guanglu Lane. The "seven alleys" are: Yangqiao Alley, Langguan Alley, Anmin Alley, Huang Alley, Ta Alley, Gong Alley, and Jibi Alley. "Who would have thought the recluse of Five Willows and Lone Pine would dwell amidst Three Lanes and Seven Alleys?" This entire ancient residential quarter, first built during the Ming Dynasty, has been remarkably preserved through centuries of history spanning both Ming and Qing dynasties. This is a rare alpine grassland in the south. It is lush in summer, with scattered cattle and cool breezes. There is a certain slope when hiking up the mountain, but the journey is not far, the degree of commercialization is low, and it is relatively primitive.

Everyone says that if you come to Fuqing, you must go to Shizu Mountain! Night tour is a beautiful choice! It was already seven o'clock after dinner, so we drove there! Go straight from the parking lot to the reservoir! Continue walking forward after reaching the reservoir, and then follow the bluestone road to the gate of Shizhu Mountain! 1,400 steps, officially started! Go straight up! Stop and go! Bluestone steps! The evening breeze blows gently! Stop when you are tired👣, there is a courtyard to rest every few dozen meters! Stop and go, don't overwork, don't force yourself! It's like life! There are many temples along the way! The fragrance of incense hits you in the face! Feel the power of compassion! Sincerity is the key, kowtow three times devoutly! Make a wish secretly! Continue forward, The night view of Shizhu Mountain is refreshing! Looking down from a high place, overlooking the green mountains and green waters! Feel the insignificance of life! It's just a living being! It takes less than an hour to reach the Qimeng Hall. The devout believers, with a straw mat and a quilt, sleep on the ground, looking forward to the guidance of the gods! It is said that if you ask for something here, it will be answered, and you will be told in your dreams! Continue to go up to the Zhuangyuan Pavilion! If you have the energy, you can still insist on going up! It is said that from above, you can look far and wide and see the night view of Fuqing. It's okay during the day! Beat the Zhuangyuan drum and wear a Zhuangyuan costume! Summary: Shizhu Mountain in Fuqing is full of mysterious colors! Not long ago, big stars: Yang Mi and Huang Xiaoming came here for a visit. It's worth a visit!

The idea was first proposed in 1992 and it was finally completed in 2013. It was not easy. I didn't expect so many people to donate to build it, and the amount was not small. This shows the importance of the bridge. It has shortened the distance between Pingtan Island and the mainland. It only takes one hour to reach the county from Changle Airport.

It's very big inside. If you are bringing children, you don't have to go too deep to play. It is simply a paradise for children. If adults come, just hike and get close to nature. Don't come too late. You can walk inside for at least half a day. The one-way route goes back and forth. Pay attention to maintain your physical strength. The signs are less obvious the further you go inside. Be careful not to get lost. The gate closes at 5 o'clock. If you are not driving by yourself, be sure to catch the last bus at 5 o'clock (get to the gate early to wait) to go down the mountain. Because it is located in a remote area, it will be very difficult to get a taxi. The driver may not drive all the way up the mountain to pick you up.

When visiting Fuzhou, a leisurely stroll through the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys is a must. Walking on the cool cobblestone streets, looking up at the staggered saddle-shaped walls, white walls and gray tiles, you'll see the quintessential old Fuzhou. No need to rush to see the must-see spots; just wander into any alley, and you'll find ancient houses and courtyards brimming with stories. The streets are bustling with the aroma of everyday life—meat dumplings, fish balls, and peanut soup fill the air—a truly blissful experience as you stroll and savor the delicious treats.

Wanfu Temple was founded in the fifth year of Zhenyuan in the Tang Dynasty (789 AD). It was originally named "Prajna Hall". In the eighth year of Zhenyuan, it was expanded into a Zen temple. The court named it "Jianfu Zen Temple", commonly known as "Huangbo Temple". In the 42nd year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, Emperor Shenzong granted it the title "Wanfu Zen Temple". The temple covers an area of more than 100 acres and adopts a five-story hall pattern. The inner mountain gate, Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, Guanyin Hall, etc. are located on the central axis. There are bell and drum towers and Jialan Hall on both sides. The halls are connected by corridors. It is one of the ancestral temples of the Linji School of Zen Buddhism in China and the birthplace of the Obaku School of Japanese Buddhism. In the eleventh year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty, Zen Master Yinyuan traveled to Japan and built a temple in Uji, Kyoto, imitating the Wanfu Temple in Fuqing, and founded the Obaku School.

Fuzhou, a city blessed with good fortune, offers opportunities to soak in hot springs, enjoy seafood, and take a night cruise on the Minjiang River – a truly relaxing and pleasant experience. The electric cruise ship is particularly noteworthy; it's quiet, and you can sit at the bow and admire the night view – a wonderful experience.

Pingtan Fairy Well (East China Sea Wonderland) is truly a masterpiece of nature! Millions of waves eroded it, forming a giant natural vertical well over forty meters deep, with an opening at the bottom leading directly to the sea. At high tide, giant waves crash into the well, creating a thunderous roar—the famous "Fairy Well Roaring Waves"—a truly awe-inspiring sight. The scenic area also features Fairy Valley, where black rock walls contrast beautifully with the blue sea, creating a stunning atmosphere perfect for photos. The area remains relatively uncommercialized, preserving its pristine coastal scenery. The trails are easy to walk, making it a must-visit in Pingtan!

Gushan Mountain in Fuzhou is definitely worth a climb. The mountain forests are serene, and the cliff carvings are rich in cultural heritage. Climbing to the top offers panoramic views of the city and allows you to truly appreciate the mountain scenery of Fuzhou, a city blessed with good fortune. Moving on to Beibu Gulf in Pingtan, for dining, look no further than Beibu Gulf Xiaobailou. Their freshly caught seafood is incredibly sweet, and you can enjoy your meal on the terrace overlooking the sea. The owner is so friendly that he can even take you to see bioluminescent plankton. For accommodation, choose Shuangchuang Julu Youth Hostel. It's clean, comfortable, and has a strong travel atmosphere. It's very close to all the must-see spots along the northern route, making island travel super convenient. A one-stop recommendation for food and lodging along the northern route of Pingtan! ✨

This trip to Fujian was incredibly rewarding. First, I visited the Shangxiahang Historical and Cultural District, with its ancient brick houses, flowing water, and vibrant old Fuzhou atmosphere. Strolling along the ancient streets allowed me to experience the history of Fujian merchants, and the night view was particularly atmospheric – definitely worth exploring in detail. Afterwards, I went to Beibu Gulf in Pingtan to see the sea, and both the food and accommodation were surprisingly pleasantly surprising. For dining, I recommend Xiaobailou Seafood Restaurant, the only seafood restaurant in Beibu Gulf, run by three veterans – a reliable and trustworthy business. The seafood was fresh, authentic, and retains its original flavor. The owner was warm and attentive, not pushy with orders, and even offered helpful travel tips, making my seafood meal worry-free and enjoyable. After dinner, I checked into the Beibu Gulf Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cluster Youth Hostel. The location was excellent, the environment was clean and tidy, and the common areas had a great atmosphere. It was a great place to meet travel buddies from all over and exchange travel tips. The rooms were great value for money, and it was very convenient for getting around. From the charming old streets of Fuzhou to the stunning blue seascape of Pingtan, this itinerary offers a complete experience, including strolling through ancient streets, savoring fresh seafood, and staying in comfortable hostels. It's a highly recommended combination for any trip to Fujian.
