Although the overall experience was very “touristy” with hordes of people coming through these areas, we thoroughly enjoyed the quick and varied stops that taught us things and incorporated delicious foods. Rob in particular was an amazing guide. 10/10 for his skills in connecting Americans’ background knowledge and home culture or humor to the Dutch peoples’ cultural norms, geography, and history relevant to the areas we visited. ★

What a lovely place to visit. It was very interesting to actually see how the windmill works on the inside. We visited the wood cutting one and it is amazing how they still contribute to cut the wood on strips. Other windmills are used to mix paint. There are also small houses doubling as souvenir shops, handmade items and ice cream/hot chocolate places. There is plenty where to walk around too. Not to be missed when in the area. ★

Simon was an excellent tour guide! Communication was smooth—he kept us updated on pick-up times, and the van was spacious and comfortable for our family of three plus five others.
He was kind, knowledgeable, and even adjusted our itinerary based on the weather so we could avoid the rain—such a thoughtful touch!
We had plenty of time to explore both Giethoorn (after a peaceful, private boat ride) and Zaanse Schans (after a fun cheese and wooden shoe demo). There was time for photos, videos, and shopping too.
If you’re visiting the Netherlands, this tour is a must. And if you can, request Simon as your guide—you’ll be in great hands!
