Reviews: Mola Mola Marine Dolphin Cruise from the Walvis Bay Waterfront to Pelican Point

I took a trip on a boat called Sonvis with guide Wian Borman all crew were great & very helpful . We were lucky to see lots of Bengula Heaviside Dolphins , thousands of seals, flamingoes, pelicans & one came & landed on the boat, stayed on for a couple of hours whilst travelling back to shore! is name was Boris , the crew prepared a lunch of fresh Walis Bay oysters, finger sandwiches, fizz & the local grog, myself & another passenger were disabled, the crew were marvellous at helping. Thanks Mola-Mola. the boatman has my Queen Elizabeth cap now!

My friends & I enjoyed this scenic & fun experience. The lunch, with bubbles, was very nice. The drivers are very professional & experienced. The return trip through the dunes is quite thrilling. To note for future people booking the afternoon trip, is that the "lunch" isn't until about 3:30pm. Also check on tide times, because at near high tide, the vehicles can't get all the way along the beach and the tour stops short of Sandwich Harbour. The other important thing to note is the seating arrangement of thier Toyota Fortunars. They carry up to 7 passengers. The primo seat is up front, next to the driver. Obviously, you have way better views & photo opportunities here. The next best are the outside seats in the next row, where you're by a large window that opens. If you're in the back row or middle seat of 2nd row, your experience isn't as good (if I'd been seated here for whole time my rating would have been 2-3). You & your companions need to set up a roster to take turns & swap around at stops.

It’s a shame the seal pups were less playful as they were a bit older but it was still brilliant to be amongst the coloney. Guides were great and informative, kayaking not very far. Waterproofs provided but no pictures as stated in the ad.

I had already been to Sandwich Harbour, so I thought I knew what to expect... Spoiler alert: I knew nothing. This time, I had the chance to do it with Christian from Desert Compass Tours, and there... a change of dimension! First of all, Christian is a mix between a walking encyclopedia, a rally driver (calm, eh), and a stand-up comedian. He knows every dune, every grain of sand (well almost), and he explains everything with passion, humor, and a good dose of good humor. We learn, we laugh, and we don't see the time go by. And in terms of safety, frankly, I was more scared in a taxi in town than in the dunes with him. The sunset? Simply breathtaking. The kind of moment where you say to yourself: "OK, now I'm in a documentary, for sure." In short, if you do Sandwich Harbour, do it with Christian. Otherwise, it's a bit like eating a sandwich without any filling: it lacks flavor!
