Reviews: Rila Monastery day tour with Optional SPA/Thermal baths
Guest User2026-06-07
The Rila Monastery is a fascinating place, highly recommended, especially with an Italian guide who will help you discover the history of the place. I probably wouldn't choose the spa option again, as you have little time to relax and there are much nicer thermal baths. I recommend sitting far ahead on the bus so you can hear the guide's explanations during the ride.

Kalina is an exceptional guide; she was brilliant at handling even a small organizational issue with the shuttle. The monastery is stunning, and the two hours at the hot springs were truly rejuvenating. Definitely worth repeating!

The trip to the monastery and spa was very well-planned and there were 2 stops near the monastery before and after the tour. Our guide Georgi was really friendly, welcoming and gave a really informative and interesting tour in the Rila Monastery. The tour was also possible with audio guide in different languages. Really loved the little bakery near the monastery, definitely recommend to try the mekitsi. The spa was also very nice and relaxing, keep in mind to bring your own slippers and the ticket to the spa is only in cash. The group of 10, who we were travelling with, was really fun and friendly.

Great way to explore the snowy forest, I find when skiing I spend the whole time looking down so was great to be able to look around and enjoy the scenery. Safe, comfortable and fun.

The experience is exactly as described in the app. Very well organized and properly timed. You get to see a glimpse of the historical and cultural sites along with a local taste at one of the oldest restaurants in Bulgaria (Limoncheto - very tasty food with authentic atmosphere & reasonable prices - yes you read it right). The tour’s guide called Yadoslav is very knowledgeable about Bulgaria’s history - he gives you insightful information in a subtle way. Moreover, he goes the extra mile by engaging with the participant and discussing commonalities between the two cultures (if any) and recommending the best places in town to visit and explore. I really enjoyed my time. An experience not to be missed.
