This half day tour is a great and convenient way to visit Hallstat. It is of course more expensive than taking the train or public bus+ferry to get to Hallstat, but it is certainly a time-saver. It's essentially a direct bus trip to Hallstat with a bit of commentary of interesting places that we passed and some history. Once you reached Hallstat, you will go around on your own for about 2.5 hours and the bus will come to pick up at a certain time. The 1.5 hours ride is comfortable and there's a power point at your seat if you need to charge your phone.

The Austrian tour company was fantastic! The guides and drivers were all very nice. A basic level of English communication is necessary, as the guide provided the entire tour in English, offering a very detailed explanation of Austrian history, including Hallstatt, its geographical location, and its past. The explanations were excellent. I would definitely choose this local tour again next summer if I have the chance. Winter is quite cold with short days; it gets dark around 4 pm. I'll definitely check out the summer scenery next time!

Before the trip, I was worried about not having enough time, but it turned out to be plenty, as Hallstatt isn't very big. The English-speaking tour guide was excellent, the scenery along the way was stunning, and the guide provided some commentary. Taking the bus was much more convenient; no transfers were needed, and the boarding point was right next to the palace in the city center, very easy to find. The last picture shows the boarding point. Overall, it was fantastic, a wonderful experience.


