I was honestly a little nervous booking a tour off the ship for the first time — Royal Caribbean offered a similar excursion, but at a much higher price. I decided to take a chance with Toucan Tours, and I’m so glad I did because it ended up being one of the best decisions of our trip. Once we checked in, we loaded into a comfortable minivan that took us out to the Chacchoben archaeological site. Everything was smooth, organized, and easy to follow from the very start. Our guide, Juan Carlos, was fantastic. He shared so much insight about Mayan culture and history, but in a way that felt engaging and approachable — never overwhelming. He even taught us how to write numbers in the Mayan language, which ended up being such a fun and unexpected highlight. The team provided plenty of cold bottled water, kept the pace relaxed, and gave us time to take photos and explore the site without ever feeling rushed. I felt safe, well taken care of, and genuinely able to enjoy the experience. This tour exceeded my expectations and made the whole day unforgettable. I would absolutely recommend Toucan Tours to anyone visiting the area — especially if you're considering alternatives to the cruise-line excursions. I’ll put my full experience on YouTube.
