The main thing is that you have a third-party internet connection when you connect. I activated it before leaving Tokyo, and when I landed in Cebu, the connection was automatically established. Yes, be sure to check that data roaming is enabled. Connection isn't always available, but it depends on how deep into the mountains you go. 4G/5G generally works. I recommend it.
