If you are visiting China and do not already have a Chinese mobile phone number, then you must have a eSIM card to move around, because China is a massive digital land!

It worked overall fine. We always had data but the performance was not stellar. I don't think we were even reaching the capped 10Mbit/s but it was fine for browsing and paying with Alipay.

Easy set-up. The email comes with a link set up for IOS, no need to use the QR code. A lot smoother than some other providers. Good connection in Macau and Hong Kong.
