As with most all castles, a must see and visit adventure. Put your walking shoes on, you'll need them! Lots of cobblestones and the the castle itself will take your breath away. You'll also see the world's "largest wine barrel"... go with a guide to get all the stories behind the history...ie; the windows, etc.★

This was a wonderful tour hosted by Ilse, a very kind and knowledgeable local guide. Ilse's stories brought the rich history of Heidelberg to life. Things we would have passed by on our own, not knowing what they were, became part of our appreciation of Heidelberg because Ilse pointed them out for us. We enjoyed the afternoon walking down interesting small side streets, learning the history of the Schloss and all of its eras, understanding what the pretzels carved into the church walls represented, and getting a very good restaurant recommendation. It was a great tour, thank you Ilse!★
