I love doing cooking classes when I travel and this is by far the best one I've been on. I was fortunate to be the only person who signed up for that day but the family happily took me through the full course. I first went with Wasantha's husband to the market where he introduced me to some vegetables I knew and some that were new. He picked out a handful that I would learn later, each be featured in their own curry. We then went to the fish market to pick up a fresh tuna. We returned and Wasantha was there to greet me and begin cooking. There were no measuring cups, just using our hands to estimate how much we've added to each dish. We did have a spoon to get the various spices that would be used in unique combinations for each curry. The coconut milk, liquid and meat were all extracted by hand during my experience as well. Wasantha boasted that she knows over 100 recipes by heart. Not only that, she's learned to know when a dish is spiced properly or is ready to serve through visual cues. For JUST MYSELF, we make 5 unique curries featuring fried lotus root, the drumstick plant, a type of pumpkin, okra and the tuna. Everything tastes incredible. The meal and experience were so completely worth it and exceeded my expectations of making a few "signature" dishes from that culture (as to what I've experienced in other classes). I highly recommend this class!

We had a wonderful tour in the Sinharaja rainforest with our knowledgable guide Sagata Nadun, who showed us with great enthousiasm a lot of animals, insects and plants in the forest. The host/cook Tiriri was super kind and went out of his way to make sure breakfast and lunch was great for us. We planned this tour from Galle, and a taxi was arranged for us at a reasonable price. Definitely would recommend this tour, great experience, good price!

Oh my gosh highly recommend this fabulous cooking class. Our chef/teacher and hostess was so warm and friendly and generously opens her home and shared her food knowledge with us. Going to the market and choosing our own veggies was a bonus and such fun

It was mega! Super cool surf instructor and work fast but more accurately. I can only recommend it! When I come back to Sri Lanka, it will continue where I left off. I'm really looking forward to it!
