Reviews: Official ticket: JR Tokyo Wide Area Pass (electronic redemption voucher, redeemable from 8/21)

If you have a JR Wide Pass, it's incredibly convenient. Just walk in when you see the image of a green person on a green chair. Simply use translation software, take a screenshot of your text, tell them where you want to go, and they'll buy it all for you right away. Sometimes I just go in to use the restroom and then come out. JR trains all have elevators, so if you have luggage, you can take them. The counters at major stations are often crowded, so you might have to wait a while before they can serve you. But unless it's business hours, the staff are generally nice.
Reviews: Kanto Region Rail Pass|Greater Tokyo Pass

The reservation is very simple. If it is only in the Tokyo circle, and will take some long-term private rail, it is still a more cost-effective pass. If you don't carefully plan the itinerary and calculate the fare, it may not save money. Because you have to show it to the station attendant, some station exit train attendants are not there. It will be more troublesome. Some station attendants are not familiar with the pass and will delay a little time.

This is a must-do for any Hakone trip. Even if you only plan on spending a day there, it's definitely worth it if you're planning on visiting Owakudani. I even enjoyed the cruise.
