We booked a day tour and would recommend it, as the park is really very large and this gives you a better chance of seeing lots of animals. We were also lucky enough to have a completely private tour, as there were no other bookings that day (Sunday). Our guide, Ephisas, was very friendly, spoke good English, and told us a lot about the animals (he could say something about every animal, big or small), giving us many great photo opportunities and memorable moments. The food/barbecue (prepared by our guide) was delicious, and the drinks bar kept us well-hydrated (with and without alcohol). We definitely recommend this tour.

We had the best tour ever. It started a little bumpy: the driver was 10 minutes late for pickup. However, the drive itself was very pleasant. Once we arrived at the park, we met Tawanda: he's incredibly nice, was great with our 5-year-old son, and knows the place like the back of his hand, having worked as a tour guide for 15 years (!). At first, we were a bit surprised by the small private car we were traveling in. But it turned out to be a huge advantage: we could take any road we wanted and even make a few detours. Tawanda really knows all the best spots for close-up animal viewing. One elephant was so close to our car we could have touched it. The tour was so good that we immediately booked him for another day trip in Cape Town. Tawanda is incredibly friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and a fantastic storyteller. If we ever return to South Africa, we'll definitely contact him again.
