Andreas was full of information about all of the stops on this tour. He was able to answer all of our (and the others guests) questions. He brought us to a beautiful picture point to see islet vila do campo and at the end brought us to the top of the volcanic crater (about 2000 meters up). This allowed us to see all of the Furnas (including the church that we stopped at earlier that day) in a whole new way. He was very very articulate with explaining the process for both the tea and the pineapple plantations. This tour was a good balance (about 50/50) of structured group time and independent time to explore the stops.

This was our second trip with Terra Azul, and once again we had fantastic experiences: one blue whale, several striped dolphins, and many bottlenose dolphins. A wonderful day and lots of valuable information.

This food tour was quite interesting, our guide, Salvatore provided an incredible amount of the island’s history while we walked and sampled a few different local foods. The tour does not cover a lot of ground, which is great if you’re on a cruise stop. The historic center is right at the pier. We visited the central market to see the bounty of products grown on the islands as well as those that are imported. After tasting some fruit, especially the local pineapple, we made 2 stops to taste the local cheeses. We also stopped at a very interesting shop which sold an incredible variety of tinned fish (local sardines) in along with gold jewelry. We then walked to a seafood restaurant right near our ship and were treated to a beautiful lunch with several shrimp and fish dishes. It included a bottle of excellent local wine. All in all, this was a worthwhile food tour.
