If you want to surprise someone, or even yourself, I can confidently recommend going on a Bucharest tour with TukTuk, as they are true professionals at this sort of thing! Even though my fiancée and I were born and raised in Bucharest, during our trip with TukTuk, we felt as if we were tourists in our own city! We had 2 private, half-day tours with Vlad Chiciudean in Bucharest - the city under Ceausescu and the history of Bucharest's Jews. Vlad is smart, funny, super knowledgeable and not only prepared to answer every single question you might have but also to share personal stories that put a human face to the facts. We like experiences that are off the beaten tourist track and Vlad took us to places that I'm pretty sure few visitors have seen. The marble floors, extracted from limestone taken from the Apuseni Mountains, of a subway station, that featured prehistoric fossils. We're still talking about what we learned. If Vlad lived in our town, I'd invite him to dinner!

I thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour of Bucharest. Horia was our guide and he did a great job showing us around the top landmarks and buildings in the city. I learned a lot about this city and the country’s history during this tour so a big thanks to him for the insight he shared with us. This walking tour last about 3 hours or so but there’s a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes, bring water, and wear sunscreen if it’s sunny. Overall it was a very nice tour that introduced me to Bucharest, I’m glad booked it. Highly recommended especially if you only have 1 day to see Bucharest. - Nolan


