Enshi Grand Canyon National 5A Scenic Area and National Geopark is a world-renowned "natural museum" of composite karst landforms with "ground fissures, cenotes and rock pillars" coexisting at the same time. Its ecological environment is unique, and its natural scenery is primitive and simple, with a gallery of ten thousand meters of cliffs, a thousand-foot waterfall, hundreds of unique peaks, and ten miles of deep ravines. Yunlong Ground Fissure is called "the beautiful scar of the earth"; "One Incense Stick" was rated as one of the 40 famous scenic spots in China by foreign media. Yunlong ground seam Yunlong Ground Fissure Scenic Area covers an area of 11.3 square kilometers and has an altitude of 600-800 meters. The main landforms in the scenic area include ground fissures, waterfalls, deep pools, karst caves, underground rivers, pictographic stones, and geological profiles. Yunlong Ground Fissure is zigzag-shaped in plane, extending nearly north-south, with a total length of 3.6 kilometers, an average depth of 75 meters, and an average width of 15 meters. The river valley is deep and the bank is steep. It is known as the "ten-mile and hundred-foot cliff". It is the main sightseeing area of Yunlong Ground Fissure Scenic Area. The two walls of Yunlong Ground Fissure are steep and nearly parallel, and the width is basically the same from top to bottom. The cross section is "U"-shaped, which is extremely rare and unique. A stick of incense Karst stone pillars. A stick of incense is a landmark of the Enshi Grand Canyon and a very rare landscape among similar karst landforms. A stick of incense is 150 meters high, with a diameter of 6 meters at the bottom and a minimum diameter of only 4 meters. Its rock type is Triassic limestone. Because the strata here are horizontal, and the rock has a high compressive strength (800 kg/cm3), and there is no tilt or slip, it cannot be moved by the wind or knocked down by the rain. It has stood proudly among the peaks for tens of millions of years, guarding this mysterious land, which is rare. Cliff plank road The Cliff Plank Road, also known as Buyuntian Plank Road and Cliff Corridor, was built in August 2006 and took 1 year and 8 months to complete. The plank road is located on the mountainside of the vertical cliff on the east side of the mountain, with an altitude of about 1,700 meters, a total length of 488 meters, a height difference of 300 meters, and 118 stone steps. It is integrated with the mountain cliffs. Because the plank road is built on the cliff, some people call it the Cliff Corridor, or the "Cliff Plank Road". The project is a combination of the manufacturing technology of the ancient Bashu plank road with modern reinforced concrete building materials and advanced construction technology. It is scientific, safe, and magnificent. Welcome Song The Welcoming Pine, which is estimated to be nearly a thousand years old, grows proudly on the cliff, as if opening its arms to welcome tourists from all over the world.Enshi City · 32.5km from downtown

Pingshan Grand Canyon beautifully combines both natural scenery and historical relics. The topography here is precipitous, and the scenery unique. Towering cliffs jut up on all sides surrounded by streams. You can ride a tour boat to experience the scenery on both sides of the river. Successive Tusi kings built their seats of government in Pingshan. Today, ruins of these remain, and many precious artifacts have been unearthed here. Pingshan Grand Canyon maintains its original natural ecosystem. There is no urban bustle here, only a comfortable cool breeze in the summertime that makes it a great summer retreat.Hefeng · 7.6km from downtown

The cave features mountains within and mountains contain caves. Currently, only a section is open to visitors, divided into the front cave and rear cave portions. The front cave is the main section of the dry cave and the highlight of the tour. The entrance stands over 70 m high and 60 m wide, allowing more than 20 trucks to drive side by side or even helicopters to pass through. The cavern is spacious and lofty, with peaks like Dragon Scale Mountain lying horizontally inside, while the spiraling cave ceiling can be seen overhead. The large-scale Tujia ethnic song and dance performance "Yishui Lichuan" is staged in the front cave's natural karst hall, showcasing Tujia folk customs such as "Roulianxiang," "Crying Marriage," and "Daughter's Festival." Deeper inside the cave, a laser show theater presents the Tujia legend of Linjun and the Saltwater Goddess through sound, light, and visual effects. The water cave entrance outside is where the Qing River flows underground into the cave. The entire river plunges dozens of meters here into the mountain belly, roaring like thunder, earning the name "Crouching dragon swallowing the river." Along the cave system and the ancient riverbed outside are scattered scenic spots such as Guancai Gorge, White Jade Stone Forest, and Three Dragon Gates. The cave maintains a constant temperature of around 10°C year-round, offering a refreshing coolness in midsummer. Enshi Grand Canyon comprises two scenic areas. A full ticket cost 370 yuan, and a day was plenty of time to explore. We entered the park at 8:30 am, visited Qixingzhai in the morning, and Yunlong Ground Fissure at 1 pm. We took the "Little Waist" elevator up at 3 pm. However, after reaching the top, we had to take an escalator and a mini-train to the parking lot, which took an hour. For someone almost 60 years old, visiting both scenic areas was quite manageable.

Compared to Enshi Grand Canyon, I highly recommend Pingshan Canyon. Don't choose the so-called "lazy person's route" with boats in and out; you still walk quite a bit, and you repeat the same route both ways, going up and down a long stretch of steps inside the cave and missing a lot of scenery! Just take the regular route; even as a lazy person, I thought it was fine. The cliffside views are absolutely stunning!

Tenglong Cave was truly breathtaking; it was the first time I'd seen such a large natural cave. Although I visited during the National Day holiday, there weren't many tourists, making for a pleasant experience. The distance from the front cave to the back cave is about 2 kilometers. We didn't take the shuttle bus; we walked there and back. On the way back, there were noticeably more tourists. The performance inside the cave was quite good, but the kids kept wanting to leave, so we had to leave halfway through. While I felt the cave was a bit overdeveloped, this natural wonder is definitely worth seeing.

I bought the C-line package ticket, and after the whole loop, honestly, the shuttle bus ticket wasn't necessary. It could have driven directly to the park entrance, but the navigation kept setting it to the visitor center. From the visitor center to the main entrance, it's all village roads, and there were no barriers; you could just drive right in. Another thing to complain about is the entire route from the boat to the elevator – it's all stairs, like climbing over ten flights of stairs! The point of taking a boat and an elevator is to avoid walking or being too tired to walk, right? Adding so many stairs is just exhausting! It would have been better to just walk out – at least that's flat ground, not climbing stairs. So tiring! 😫

This down-to-earth experience recreates traditional Tujia customs such as the daughter's festival, the weeping wedding ceremony, and the hand-waving dance. Performers invite tourists to dance and interact, creating a highly engaging experience. Combined with the nighttime scenery of the stilted houses and the ambiance created by the red lanterns, the performance offers excellent value for money. The activities are lighthearted and lively, suitable for all ages, and perfect for family outings.

This place isn't very famous. It rained today, and there was a lot of fog on the mountain, but once we got down to the valley floor, the fog cleared, and the canyon scenery was beautiful! Although we didn't see the beautiful views of the mountains above because of the fog, the canyon (crevice) itself was absolutely stunning and definitely worth a visit.

Xuan'en Gongxiu, also known as Wupeng boat, is a traditional awning boat tour. From the boat, you can enjoy the fire-turning lanterns on the river, as well as song and dance performances on the banks and other boats. Combined with the night view, it's simply breathtaking. Taking a boat trip is definitely a major plus for Xuan'en's nighttime scenery.
