Bua Tong Waterfall is located on Highway 1001 in northern Chiang Mai, on the way to Phrao, within Mae Taeng National Forest.
The Bua Tong Waterfall originates from the Rainbow Spring (or Seven-Colored Spring), whose waters contain high levels of calcium carbonate. As the water flows down, calcium deposits accumulate on the rocks. The calcium carbonate makes the rock surfaces less slippery. Believe it or not, these rocks may appear smooth, but they are surprisingly easy to walk on. Simply head toward the waterfall—there's almost no risk of slipping. Even if someone were to pour cement down the rocks, it would harden underwater rather than adhere to the surface. Bua Tong Waterfall is a highly recommended attraction to visit.
Chiang Mai Blue Temple Wat Ban Den, located about 40 km north of Chiang Mai in the Mae Daeng suburb, is a century-old ancient temple with grand scale.
