Neptune's Fountain

The Neptune Fountain is one of the most iconic historical landmarks in Gdańsk, Poland. It is located in the Long Square (Długi Targ) in the center of the old town. Its history can be traced back to the early 17th century. It was designed by German sculptor Abraham van den Blok and completed in 1613. The main body of the fountain is a bronze statue of Neptune, the sea god, holding a trident and standing on a shell chariot, symbolizing the prosperity of Gdańsk as a Baltic trade port and its deep connection with maritime culture. The base of the fountain is decorated in Rococo style, surrounded by sculptures of marine life and reliefs of Greek mythological scenes, such as seahorses, dolphins and mythological figures, showing the exquisite craftsmanship of European Baroque art in the 17th century. During World War II, the statue was secretly moved for protection and relocated to its original site after the war, becoming a symbol of the city's rebirth from the ashes. Today, the square where the fountain is located gathers Dutch Renaissance-style buildings, such as Arthur's Court and the City Hall, forming a landscape that blends history and modernity.Gdansk · 576m from downtown

The AmberSky ferris wheel turns quietly like a glistening piece of amber between the ancient pier and the red-tiled roofs. Step onto the boarding platform by the pier and ride the enclosed observation cabin as it slowly rises, unfolding a view of the city's rooftops, church spires, ship masts, and harbor waters. As the cabin slowly rotates, you can overlook the coastal city's scenery from above: the brick-red roofs of the old town, historic cranes quietly watching over the harbor, and yachts gently swaying on the water. At dusk, the setting sun paints the old city in golden hues, and the ferris wheel lights up, reflecting on the river's surface to create a romantic yet serene city silhouette. AmberSky became one of Gdansk's landmarks ten years ago, symbolizing a new dimension for this port city as it moves from its rich history toward modern exploration. A ride on it offers more than just a view. It is like embarking on a journey through the city's memories.Gdansk · 974m from downtown

Long Market is not actually that long. It is a short street from the Golden Gate (Zlota Brama) to the Green Gate (Zielona Brama). As it was the route used by Polish kings for processions in the past, it is also known as the Royal Route. Long Market is lined with beautiful, historic buildings. The clock tower, the cathedral, and theOld Town Hallare located right by this square. There are many small shops selling amber products along the street, so the Long Market is also a great place to buy souvenirs.Gdansk · 631m from downtown
