The Xinglong Mountain Scenic Area in Chengde is beautiful in late autumn, with its layered mountains and vibrant maple forests. The cable cars, elevators, and boardwalks are all very well-equipped and excellent! The only downside is the abundance of large insects; I really wish they had sprayed some pesticides to kill them! 😦
It's the main peak of the Yanshan Mountains, at an altitude of 2118 meters, accessible by car. In summer, it's a great place to view the sea of clouds and escape the heat. This trip focused on autumn scenery, showcasing pristine natural forests, beautifully landscaped and vibrantly colored. It's a top choice for autumn viewing in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, without the hassle of traveling far.
I went during the May Day holiday, and the temperature was just right. It drizzled in the morning, but the sun came out again soon after. I originally planned to do the smaller loop, but I unintentionally explored the larger loop instead. I really enjoyed the feeling of hiking in this primeval forest.
The hotel breakfast deserves special mention; it offered a wide variety of options, and the local specialties were very authentic. The hotel's location is also very convenient, with a subway station right outside. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, making me feel right at home from check-in to check-out. I would definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit this city!
Green mountains and clear waters, strange rocks and peaks, a wonderful fairyland, the workmanship of nature, colorful crystals, dazzling, rugged rocks, jagged edges, it is a wonder of the world, so beautiful!
Escape the hustle and bustle and step into Gubei Water Town. Bluestone slabs, old courtyards, and the Great Wall visible overhead, all bathed in vibrant autumn colors. Time slows down here, healing all weariness.
Well, these kinds of attractions are really dependent on the visitor. If you're interested in Qing Dynasty history, it's worth a visit; it's one of the three major Qing Dynasty imperial mausoleum areas, containing the remains of many well-known Qing emperors and empresses. But if you're not interested in history, there's not much to see—just several similar tombs. The tombs you can visit include the Qianlong Yuling Mausoleum, the Yuling Consorts' Tombs, the Empress Dowager Cixi's tomb, and the Kangxi Emperor's tomb, which is open during peak season but apparently closed in winter. The area isn't too crowded.
I didn't have high hopes, but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise! The cave was very cool, and the scenery was unique. It was really a masterpiece of nature. The tour guide led the team to explain, which made the cave scenery more attractive. I feel that if you come here in hot summer weather, it will definitely be a summer resort.
