This excursion was more than just a simple transfer from the cruise port to Hobbiton visitor center. Alan, our driver and guide, was very personable and accommodating. He has great knowledge of the area and shared his expertise with our group throughout the drive to Hobbiton and back. We drove by a few scenic areas near the cruise ship port, saw some fine beaches, and had stops at McLaren Falls and a nearby lake as well as a scenic overlook viewing the beautiful valley where Hobbiton can be found. All in all, it was a very scenic and informative drive into the beautiful North Island of New Zealand. It was nice to leave the driving to Alan!â
