Our guide Sean really brought the catacombs to life (not sure if you can do that!) with his stories and humour. He started by giving us the context and history of catacombs in Rome and built up the story through the ages. We had been in catacombs before but this was a much bigger and more complex system. The link between the catacombs and the construction of Rome was fascinating.★

The grounds are huge. The audio guide on your own phone is highly recommended. Download the app beforehand and you're good to go. The interactive map shows you exactly where you are and which station is next. If you want to see everything, you'll need about 3-4 hours. The new museum is fantastic. Be sure to bring something to drink, as the café was unfortunately only open on weekends.
