Loboc River

Loboc River

4.1/5
155 reviews
The green Loboc River flows quietly through Bohol Island, with dense vegetation covering both banks. Deep in the riverside jungles lies the habitat of various mysterious animals. Such pristine tropical scenery inevitably brings the Amazon River to mind, which is perhaps why it has earned the title of the "Amazon of the East." Cruising the river is widely considered the best way to experience the charm of the Loboc River. Drifting along the quiet waters, you can enjoy the tropical rainforest scenery while observing the unique traditional houses on both banks and feeling the authentic local culture. Perhaps as you pass by, beautiful local girls are playing guitars, singing, and dancing on bamboo platforms by the river, while a mischievous child sits in a tall coconut tree on the bank, waving at you. The end of the boat trip is an indigenous village, where you can go ashore to watch performances like archery, jumping through fire hoops, and fire-eating. Most people who come here participate in a Loboc River cruise, which lasts about 1 hour. The boat departs from Loay Bridge in the southwest of Bohol Island and travels upstream to Busay Falls in the center of the island; this sightseeing route is particularly popular with tourists. The boat offers a hearty and authentic Filipino meal, where you can taste local delicacies such as fresh grouper, squid, and shrimp. During the cruise, local singers will play guitars and sing classic English songs on board, which is quite relaxing.Sevilla · 16.7km from Cortes

It is generally believed that this Baccaron Church, which worships the Virgin Mary, is a very old church in the Philippines. Although in the 19th century, the Augustinian church added a modern gate in front of the Baccaron church and added some stone buildings around it, making his appearance slightly different from that of the year, in this area, it is still a Jesuit priest The built churches are well preserved. As early as 1595, Baccaron was a stronghold of the Spanish Jesuit missionaries, but was soon forced to move inland to the Ropa area. It was not until 1717 that Baccaron became a parish and a new church was built. At that time, about 200 local migrant workers were forced to build the church with coral stones. They obtained coral from the sea, cut cubes as bricks, and used bamboo to move these "bricks", and used millions of eggs as adhesives. . The present building was completed in 1727. There is also a museum in the church, which collects many religious relics, including vestments made of gold thread, and Latin church music lyrics written on sheepskin. The church is proud of the peculiar ceiling frescoes and the intricately carved ancient confessional room. Choose a sunny time to enter, and the ground will reflect beautiful colored glaze light and shadow, which is very charming.Bohol Island · 10km from Cortes

The Blood Covenant Monument is an important witness to the history of the Philippines. On February 13, 1565, the Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legaspi landed on Bohol Island. In order to show his goodwill, he made a blood alliance with the chief Datu Sikatuna. A friendship treaty was signed, and later generations cast a group of vivid statues to commemorate it. Every July, the SandugoFestival is held here for one month. The festivals include colorful balls, dances, beauty pageants, parades, sports competitions, etc., to commemorate the beginning of friendship and the history of blood alliance between Bohol and Spaniards.Tagbilaran · 9.6km from Cortes

The Cathedral of St. Joseph the Labourer is located in the center of Tagbilaran City, referred to simply as Tagbilaran Cathedral. It was built in 1767, was razed to the ground by a fire, and was rebuilt in 1855. This is a larger church on Bohol Island, the church is relatively new, and the whole is very imposing. The glass windows inside are very beautiful, and if you are lucky, you will sometimes see many believers worship here.Tagbilaran · 9.2km from Cortes

Loboc River Cruise is the best river cruise in the philippines. It's a complete package of entertainment, live music and dance and unlimited buffet foods to soothe both local and international tongue. 1000/10 although it got a bit pricey nowadays, I'd still recommend!

The clear sea water just flooded the beach, and the waves were not very big. The white sand was like a ribbon. Walking on the beach and feeling the sea breeze was so pleasant. This kind of life. A good life starts here.

Beautiful island just a boat ride from Bohol. We had a snorkeling trip here and were spoilt with beautiful crystal clear water. We got to see turtles and beautiful marine life. The locals all work together to keep the island clean. Lunch was simple but good and there are ladies selling souvenirs. Overall a beautiful island to visit.Tips: Go early to avoid the crowdsReasons to Recommend: Snorkeling and diving

This is a church that is relatively close to the pier after getting off the boat in Bohol. The pier itself is called Tagbilaran, but it takes more than 20 minutes to walk. If you take a triangular chicken car from the pier to the church, you will arrive very quickly. Generally, tourists will not stay here. It is a free church. Although there are few tourists who go there for free, most of them are locals who go there to pray.

Tarsiers are rare local protected animals. They are small, only the size of a palm. They are fun to watch. But because tarsiers are afraid of noise, you must speak softly. There are other special animals in the museum, such as the Taiwan-colored python. Because we are afraid of soft animals, we skipped this activity. Tarsiers are the smallest primates, and they are very cute. This museum is small, but rich in content. You can see tarsiers in the trees, but you cannot get close to them. You can take pictures without flash.
