The Matterhorn is 4478 meters above sea level. Its special triangular cone shape is very representative and is a symbol of the Alps. Especially at sunrise and sunset, the snow-covered mountains reflect a metallic light, which is breathtaking. . Difficult mountaineering challenges Matterhorn is the last major mountain in the Alps to be conquered, and many mountaineers regard it as a difficult challenge due to its extremely steep and precipitous terrain. Even now, it is only possible to reach the summit by a professional climber with complete equipment, accompanied by an experienced guide. From the foot of the mountain, the town of Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn is a good place to overlook the Matterhorn, and the MatterVispa River in the center of the town is the best choice for watching the morning view of the Matterhorn. . Standing by the river and looking along the empty river, the king of the mountains without the roof and branches to cover it looks even more majestic. A close-up view of the Matterhorn from the glacier paradise There is a small Matterhorn (KleinMatterhorn) near the Matterhorn. There is a viewing platform 3883 meters above sea level on its steep hill, known as the "Matterhorn" Glacier Paradise". Neuschwanstein Castle

9.6
4.5/5
1.6k reviews
Neuschwanstein Castle is located in the foothills of the Alps in Bavaria, Germany, near the Austrian border and not far from the small town of Füssen. Built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a tribute to composer Wagner and inspired by the legend of the "Swan Knight" Lohengrin, construction began in 1869. Its fairy-tale appearance—white walls, blue domes, and scattered spires—served as the inspiration for Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle. It is perennially regarded as Germany's tourism icon. The castle interior was originally planned to have over 200 rooms, but by the time of the king's death in 1886, only a dozen had been completed, each exquisitely crafted. The throne hall's dome is painted with a star-studded blue night sky, while the floor features mosaic patterns of flora and fauna, with a chandelier modeled after a Byzantine crown hanging high above. The Gothic double bed in the king's bedroom took over four years to carve by more than a dozen sculptors. The relatively large singers' hall in the castle, adorned with murals of "Lohengrin" and "Parsifal," was modeled after the Wartburg singers' hall and still hosts concerts every September. Swan motifs are nearly omnipresent, appearing in murals, door handles, and washstands. Interestingly, this medieval-inspired castle was already equipped with telephones, central heating, hot water, and automatic flushing toilets at the time, making it remarkably advanced for its era. To capture the classic postcard-perfect shot, head to Marienbrücke. This pedestrian bridge, suspended over the Pöllat Gorge, faces the southern facade of the castle and is not far from the bus drop-off point. It gets crowded in the afternoon, so an early visit is recommended. You can take the shuttle bus, a horse-drawn carriage, or hike up the mountain. The hiking route offers a bird's-eye view of the castle, and along the way, you can also see the yellow Hohenschwangau Castle, the old royal palace on the opposite hill. The castle's ending carries a touch of tragedy: Ludwig II built it with his private funds and loans, facing strong opposition from his ministers. On a late night in June 1886, he was arrested in his castle bedroom and mysteriously died days later by Lake Starnberg. Seven weeks later, the castle opened to the public. Today, visiting the interior requires following a guide, and photography is prohibited inside. Live guides provide commentary in English or German, while an audio guide is available for Chinese. Visitor guide To the castle There are three ways to reach the castle: taking the shuttle bus, riding a carriage, or going on foot. Most people choose to take the shuttle bus, then walk a short distance to Neuschwanstein Castle, where there is a viewing platform to overlook another castle—Hohenschwangau. You can also reach the castle by carriage, where you can enjoy picturesque scenery along the way, and the witty carriage driver will share legendary stories that happened here. After disembarking, it's just a short walk to the castle entrance. If you don't want to wait in line for the shuttle bus or prefer outdoor activities, you can also hike to Neuschwanstein Castle. Along the way, you can capture an aerial view of the castle, and there are relatively fewer travelers. Take a postcard-perfect photo of the castle Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge) is located near the terminal stop of the uphill bus. This 100 m-high bridge spans between two cliffs, with its floor made of wooden planks that slightly bounce when stepped on. Here, you can capture the famous postcard-perfect shot of Neuschwanstein Castle. If you arrive early before your scheduled visit time, you can first head to Marienbrücke to photograph the beautiful view of Neuschwanstein Castle, as the bridge gets overcrowded after noon. Guided tour To visit the castle interior, you must follow the official guide. The guide provides services in English and German. You can also choose to use an audio guide (available in Chinese). After the visit, you can take a short break at the café inside the castle.Germany · Schwangau

Schilthorn

4.4/5
204 reviews
Schilthorn is located in the Alps south of Interlaken, with an altitude of 2,970 meters. It is surrounded by well-known peaks such as Jungfrau and Eiger. Schilthorn is famous for the thrilling fight scenes in the 007 series "The Queen's Order". In summer, you can experience two different landscapes. If you go to Schilthorn in summer, when you reach the foot of the mountain, you can see green grass, local huts, and free-range cattle and sheep; It's another world, full of snow-covered scenes. Climbing by glass box cable car The main way for tourists to climb the Schilthorn is to take the cable car, but the difference is that this is a large glass box that can accommodate 80 people and moves up the mountain at a fast speed. The process of taking the cable car to the Schilthorn is fascinating, first from Stechelberg, 867 meters above sea level, to Gimmelwald, 1368 meters above sea level, and then to Mürren, Birg, and the process of changing the cable car. You will continue to experience the feeling of a real bird's-eye view. Even through the glass of the cable car, the photos taken are still shocking. The exciting ascent experience is a more thrilling section from Murren at 1638 meters to Birg at 2677 meters. In less than 10 minutes, the altitude is raised by 1 kilometer, and people will constantly exclaim at the beautiful scenery outside the window when ascending. I also continued to experience the feeling of weightlessness. From the Schilthorn Observation Deck, you can see the end of the cable car at the Schilthorn Observation Deck, which is 2970 meters above sea level. This is the place where the 007 movie was filmed. There are countless majestic peaks around the Schilthorn. From afar, you can see the Jungfrau, Eiger and Moshi, which are also among the mountains. 360-degree revolving panorama restaurant There is a revolving restaurant PizGloria on the top of the mountain. When the weather is good, you can dine here. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the peaks. Every time you turn a section, there will be an iron sign with a clear icon to tell you who you are facing at this angle. Which are the peaks and their elevations. The restaurant has special recommended dishes every day, which are worth experiencing. Photo with "Bond" There is also a James Bond figure with a pistol on the viewing platform, and you can take pictures with the "celebrity". If you have enough time, you can also enter the octagonal theater in the observation deck to watch an 18-minute multi-view Schilthorn region scenery film, including highlights from the 007 movie.Lauterbrunnen · 45.5km from Ayer

From Zermatt GGB to Gornergrat, you need to take a cogwheel train. After using the Swiss pass to get a 50% discount, I paid 57 Swiss francs. The ticket price is for reference only. The ticket price will fluctuate during the off-season and peak season. We went there during the National Day. The starting point is opposite the Zermatt train station. It takes 5 stops to get to Gornergrat by cogwheel train. Gornergrat is the last stop. Due to the high altitude, it is easier to see the Matterhorn. Taking reflection photos in Rotenboden requires higher weather conditions. We waited for two hours before we saw it.

We choose the horse carriage ride up, it was €8 a person. It took around 20 minutes and we enjoyed the forest view. Make sure to arrive and park at least an hour early. The entrance time is exact to every 5 minutes for crowd control. The entrance ticket includes an audio set and takes around 30 minutes. You are moved thru the rooms rather quickly. There are free lockers at information at the entrance area if needed. No pictures can be taken during the tour. **not handicapped friendly ** must be able to walk for 2-3 hours and climb up and down many flights of stairs. There are no elevators. We planned to walk down but it began to rain. So we took the horse carriage again -/€4/person.
