Chiaki Park is a beautiful park in Akita City. The word "Autumn" means "Akita", and the word "Qian" means a thousand years. Many Japanese families also like to use "Qianqiu" to name their daughters. Qianqiu Park has a history of more than 100 years. The park environment is very good, it is a green park, you can see pigeons and crows. The most beautiful times in the park are spring and summer. There are 830 cherry trees, including the 110-year-old Somei Yoshino, which are lit up at night during the Spring Cherry Blossom Festival, showing a fantastic beauty. In summer, water lilies are in full bloom in Qianqiu Park, which is full of charm.Akita City · 1.8km from downtown

Goryokaku Park is located within Goryokaku. Goryokaku is a star-shaped fortress castle built in the Edo period. It was built in Western architecture. This castle that has witnessed history now only has the outer outline of the city wall, and the interior has been converted into a city park. That is Goryokaku Park. Cherry Blossom Viewing Resort Park is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot in Hokkaido, with cherry trees planted all over it. Every time the cherry blossoms bloom, it looks like a huge five-pointed star-shaped pink flower, which is very beautiful. There is now a Hakodate School in the Hakodate Fusho Park, which collects weapons used in the war, blood-stained samurai uniforms, and restored models of many buildings. Overlooking the Five-pointed Star In addition, there is also a Goryokaku Tower outside the park. Climbing the tower can overlook the whole picture of Goryokaku Park. The shape of the five-pointed star is clearly visible, and the streetscape of Hakodate can be seen from afar. Dream of the Five-Edged Star Every winter, a night-lighting event called "Dream of the Five-Edged Star" is held here. The frozen moat is covered with white snow, and the star-shaped pattern in the park is clearer and more beautiful. The walk is very romantic.Japan · Hakodate

Lake Tazawa is located in Semboku, Akita Prefecture, Japan, and is the deepest lake in Japan and the 17th deepest in the world. Surrounded by green mountains, the lake's lapis lazuli-colored waters are crystal clear. Visitors can tour the lake by bus or take a sightseeing boat. On the lakeshore, there is a Swiss-style theme park, Lake Tazawa Swiss Village, which is also a filming location for the Korean drama "IRIS". Throughout the seasons, Lake Tazawa displays different colors, especially in the fall, when the mountains are covered in red leaves that reflect off the clear lake water, creating a charming scene. Additionally, there are many spots for viewing autumn leaves around Lake Tazawa, and whether viewed from afar or up close, they are captivating enough to make you linger.Semboku · 47.2km from Akita City

Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse sits on the shore of Hakodate Bay. This complex of warehouse buildings dates back to the era of open-port trade, with its heavy red brick exterior walls lined up along the bay. Today, it is a representative landmark of the Hakodate Bay area, with its historic appearance well preserved. The warehouse complex consists of four facilities: Hakodate History Plaza, Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse - Youbutsukan, BAY Hakodate, and Kanemori Hall. The interiors have been renovated into shopping, dining, and cultural spaces: Hakodate History Plaza retains its high, open red brick space and features a beer hall; Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse - Youbutsukan brings together shops selling general goods, glassware, handmade leather bags, and Western-style confectionery; BAY Hakodate offers attractions such as a small chapel, a music box shop, and a glass workshop. The bayfront promenade in front of the warehouses offers expansive views. The red brick facades paired with the distant view of Mount Hakodate make it a distinctive photo spot in this area, and it can also be easily combined with an itinerary covering Motomachi and Hachiman-Zaka Slope.Japan · Hakodate

Oirase keiryū Gorge flows out from Lake Towada and stretches for approx. 14 km. The water flow is highly varied, and the banks are covered with primeval forests of cypress, beech, and maple trees. Together with Lake Towada, it has been designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty and a Natural Monument of Aomori Prefecture. Stroll along the gorge to enjoy the natural beauty along the way. Here, you will find lush, dense trees, splashing water droplets, moss floating on the water, and rocks entwined with vines, creating a breathtaking landscape. The various waterfalls along Oirase keiryū Gorge are also worth seeing, including the 25m high Kumoi Falls, the voluminous Chōshi ōtaki Falls, as well as Tama-sudare Falls and Shiraito Falls, where the water cascades down like scattered pearls, each with its own unique charm. In winter, you can also see the beautiful frozen waterfalls here. In addition to hiking, visitors can also take a bus to tour the area. Cycling is also a very popular way to explore; bicycles can be rented at Nenokuchi and Yakeyama, allowing you to rent from one side and return it at the other.Japan · Towada

One of the top 100 famous mountains in Japan, Mt. Hakkoda is the main peak among 16 mountains with an elevation of 1585 meters. There are many wetlands in the mountains. Ride the cable car at the top of Mount Tamoga in Kitahakkoda, and you can enjoy a 360-degree view without blind spots. Or after a walk, it is a good excursion to go to the hot spring of Suanyu, which is famous for the thousand-person bathhouse at the foot of the mountain. In winter, it will attract ski lovers from home and abroad to come here. It is also very popular to see the natural wonders of hoarfrost up close with ski equipment.Japan · Aomori City

Yunokawa Onsen is located in the eastern part of Hakodate City. It can be directly reached by the municipal tram, and it only takes about 5 minutes by car from Hakodate Airport. Yunokawa Onsen has an open-air bath with beautiful scenery near the seaside, and you can also overlook the little fishing fires of the squid fishing boats in the sea, and the scenery is charming. Due to its close proximity to Hakodate Port, seafood is abundant, hot springs, and hairy crabs are the characteristics of northern hot springs. Even in Hokkaido, where there are many hot springs, Yunokawa Onsen is very popular. Because it is adjacent to the sea, you can enjoy the sea view while soaking in the hot spring. From summer to autumn, fishing boats go out to sea to catch Hakodate's specialty squid. There are many hotels and inns with different tastes in the hot spring town of Yunokawa. Visitors can enjoy attentive service, comfortable hot springs and delicious food here. Watching Japanese Macaques Bathing in Hot Springs There are about 100 Japanese macaques in the Hakodate Tropical Botanical Garden in Yunogawa Hot Springs. It is refreshing to see the macaques leisurely soaking in the hot springs in the cold season. Every year from December 1 to early May, people fill the pool with hot springs, and the macaques jump into the pool to warm up. The appearance of macaques like ordinary people soaking in hot springs is unusual and novel, and it is a well-known sight in Hakodate.Japan · Hakodate

Hakodate Morning Market is located not far from the west exit of JR Hakodate Station. It is one of the very lively markets in Hokkaido, and it is also a large seafood market with local characteristics. There are hundreds of shops of various sizes. The shops with a strong market style are open from early morning to noon, and they are very lively. There are bustling people and businessmen everywhere. The narrow aisles are crowded with lorries and shoppers, with a strong sense of the market. The shop owners in the market are very enthusiastic and often invite tourists to try crab legs and so on. Enjoy fresh seafood dishes. In addition to buying fresh seafood such as squid, king crab, sea urchin, salmon, etc., you can also go to the seafood restaurant to feast on freshly baked seafood dishes. Crabs, squid, etc. are highly recommended. In addition, friends who love sea urchins should not miss the raw sea urchins in North Korea. Cut the sea urchin in half and add mustard and soy sauce to eat it raw, very delicious! In addition, you can also find high-quality and cheap kelp, scallops and other specialties here, which are very good to take home for cooking or as souvenirs.Japan · Hakodate

The city lord’s long-cherished wish is to live forever, so it is named Qianqiu Park. It is a beautiful place with cherry blossoms in spring, green in summer, fire in autumn, and silver in winter! The city ruins are surrounded by a moat with many lotuses planted. In summer, wild duck families live here!

Definitely choose this over the rope way. Half the price and much better view and ambience. Went around 2pm and the crowds were small. There's two levels of 360 degree viewing area and some historical things to learn.

Kanamori Red Brick Warehouse is the best shopping place in Hakodate, and it has a very literary and youthful atmosphere. Beautiful views of the canal and its old red brick architectural features. The lighting at night makes for a great photo spot. There are as many as 100 shops, restaurants, etc. inside, which is very easy to browse.

Oirase Gorge is 14 kilometers long. There are walking trails, bicycle trails, and long roads, with complete facilities and you can play as you like. Moreover, now is the best season. Old men and women wearing jackets, leaning on trekking poles, carrying large cameras, walk along the creek. Young people with poor physical strength rent electric bicycles, kick their legs in the forest oxygen bar, and breathe fresh air. I am a loser, driving by myself, getting off the car to take pictures. The autumn of Oirase Gorge is yellow, the red leaves are not very red, but the yellow leaves are really yellow. The whole forest is shrouded in a warm yellow and golden color, and it feels warm. A crescent-white stream is the only cold color, clear and turbulent, passing through the forest. Every time you walk a short distance, you will encounter a small waterfall, the kind of small waterfall that you will "tsk" in China. But in Oirase, you will watch the stream jumping up and down in the mountains like Mario - it successfully passed this obstacle, Yoshi, beautiful! There is even a small waterfall trailing!! If you can wrap up tightly, walk along the stream, take pictures along the way, and go back to the hotel to soak yourself in the hot spring at night, Oirase Stream is really comfortable. I can stay here for several days! I heard that it is also very beautiful in June, and the whole forest has sprouted new leaves. My friend said that the color of the new green is so beautiful that I am speechless - "I can't describe it to you. Anyway, how can there be such green?!"

Mount Hakkoda is definitely worth a visit. It's not a single peak, but a mountain range comprised of more than ten volcanoes, offering distinct scenery in each season, especially renowned for its winter wonders of "tree ice" (ice sculptures) and autumn's vibrant red leaves. Whether you're a nature lover, an outdoor enthusiast, or a traveler seeking a unique cultural experience, you'll find something to your liking here. Highlights & Practical Tips ❄️ Natural Wonders: Tree Ice (Snow Monsters): A winter wonder, these are natural sculptures formed by mist condensing on trees, creating a spectacular and mysterious sight. The best viewing period is from December to March. You can take a cable car for a panoramic view or participate in snowshoeing for a closer look. Alpine Wetlands and Volcanic Landforms: Home to numerous wetlands and ponds, including the Munamit Wetlands, this area is a treasure trove of alpine flora. In summer, you can explore hiking trails like the "Gourd Line," offering varying levels of difficulty suitable for different types of visitors. 🌲 Seasonal Activities: Winter Skiing: Renowned for its high-quality powder snow and off-piste slopes, this is a paradise for skiers. Suitable for experienced skiers; ski slopes and equipment rental services are available on the mountain. Hiking and sightseeing are also possible. Autumn (late September to mid-October) is the best time to view the autumn leaves, making it one of the earliest places in Japan to see the fall foliage. 🚡 Featured Experiences: Hakkoda Ropeway: Approximately 10 minutes one way, directly to the summit park station, offering 360-degree panoramic views of the mountains and Aomori Bay. Operating hours are typically 9:00-16:20 (until 15:40 in winter). Hot Spring Experience: Enjoy the famous Sukayu Onsen (a mixed-gender public bath with over 300 years of history) at the foot of the mountain to relieve fatigue. 💡 Itinerary Planning Suggestions: Transportation: From Shin-Aomori Station or Aomori Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen, take a JR bus towards the "Hakkoda Ropeway" (approximately 1 hour journey), which goes directly to the ropeway station. Season Selection: Winter (December-March): The peak season, the best time to view snow trees and ski. However, please note that Mount Hakkoda is a notoriously snowy region in Japan, with unpredictable weather. A serious mountaineering tragedy occurred in 1902 (known as the "Hakkoda Snow March Incident"). Always check the weather forecast, participate in guided tours, and prepare appropriate cold-weather gear. Autumn (late September to mid-October): Stable weather and vibrant colors make it the golden time for hiking and photography. Spring and Summer: Ideal for easy high-altitude hiking, enjoying the fresh greenery and wetland flowers. 💎 In short, Mount Hakkoda is a mountain range brimming with wild beauty and seasonal charm. It may not be as widely known as Mount Fuji, but this very fact allows you to experience the pristine tranquility of Japan's natural landscape.

Take the tram slowly to Yunokawa Onsen Station and check into the Kaiyo-tei Hotel in Heiseikan. Tomorrow we'll be leaving Hakodate; it's just a 10-minute bus ride from the hotel entrance to the airport. Yunokawa Onsen boasts a 400-year history, and legend has it that it's been a place where villagers and travelers have traditionally sought healing and relaxation. During the late Edo period, former Shogunate soldiers like Enomoto Takeaki and Shikata Toshizo came to the hot springs to bathe and heal their wounds during the Battle of Hakodate. Kaiyo-tei is a very large restaurant with both red and clear hot springs, both saline springs. It's very comfortable, and the salt content has a slight antibacterial effect. Dinner will be at Shiosō-tei across the street, a buffet; both the window views and the food are beautiful.

The hotel we booked was right next to the Hakodate Morning Market, so we had lunch there every day. There were many seafood donburi restaurants in the morning market, and the Ebisu Shokudo we ate at the next day was delicious! You must try it!
