Tam Coc Friends Bungalow Ninh Bình

I notice previous reviews were posted 2019. The new owner has only been there a few months and has never run a guesthouse before. It shows. He actually forgot I was there last night, went home and locked me in. You read that correctly. I went to leave last night at 19:00 to go and eat and the entrance was padlocked shut. I was the only guest and I was locked in like a prisoner. He was also unaware of basic check-in procedures. He had no way of looking up my booking. I had to show him the Trip.com confirmation on my phone. He asked to keep my passport for the duration - I refused of course. He also wasn’t on top of basic cleaning eg empty beer cans and glasses sat for 48 hours on the tables by the pool before the area was cleaned + tidied. The first morning, I went to the reception desk, put my key on it and motioned to him to keep it. I returned 8 hours later to find my key lying exactly where I had left it and 12 guests milling around, any of whom could have gone into my room. I am sure he is on a steep learning curve and will address these issues as he accrues more guest feedback. The location, pool and bungalows are lovely. If you choose to stay there, manage your expectations of the service. He is a sweet, smiley guy who wants to please - but is currently simply clueless about the basic hospitality requirements of his new business.
Emeralda Resort Ninh Binh

4 star resort with 5 star prices & 3 star services. Mar 2024 Vietnam is a very beautiful & culturally rich country. We visited Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hoi An, Da Nang & Ninh Binh on 11D/LON trip. Hospitality, reception & local immersion was outstanding at all places (except Emeralda) - people were welcoming & hotel staff were very courteous. Emeralda Resort at Ninh Binh was not so pleasant experience barring a few seasoned staff members. F&B Manager at Sen Restauran (morning paid breakfast) declined to entertain vegan food request & puréed fruit for 7 month infant, She said Kitchen's busy, we have large group to cater to. After much explanation she managed to get a fried rice (that's It!l) but for puréed fruit she denied & insisted I pay for it. Organic Restaurant is good, couple of staff there (mostly women) were courteous. Pool Bar attendant had some issues, not even acknowledging the greetings. Thanks to Ms Hung (Restaurant Manager), Mr Chung (Reception) & another Restaurant manager at Organic (missed her name) for making our stay bearable & manageable. They have a very wonderful property & spacious rooms, had the service been at par like ot 4 & 5 star resorts; it would be an ideal location for tranquility. Note: Vegan / Vegetarian food menu is limited & not allowed to buy food from outside.
Ninh Binh Hidden Charm Hotel & Resort

We arranged private transport from Hanoi hotel to Hidden Charm and the transport was punctual (early in fact). Driver was focused and safe. Check-in at Hidden Charm was a breeze, they served a citrusy warm drink that I enjoyed. Front desk customer service personnel were proactive in suggesting sightseeing spots at Ninh Binh when we asked for suggestions. Breakfast buffet was pretty standard with western bread options and Asian pho, fried rice etc. Location wise, Hidden Charm is very near the Tam Coc boat ticket booth and also offers bicycles for us to cycle to Mua Caves and where the Lying Dragon was. At the entrance to Mua Cave, there will be people trying to get you to park your bikes for a fee, typically 5k VND per bike but we found one close to entrance and charged 2k VND per bike. Our room was at the 7th floor and comes with a expansive view. The bed was comfortable and not too soft. There was also a bath tub for me to enjoy. At the end of trip, the hotel staff arranged for private transport to the Noi Bai airport at my request. Again, driver was early and ride was smooth. I enjoyed my stay at Hidden Charm and would recommend to anyone who wish to stay in a clean hotel with excellent service.

I truly cannot say enough good things about this place. Dzung and his family were so kind and generous. They went out of their way to make our stay unforgettable. The pictures of the home stay on the internet do not do this place justice. Dzung has made every effort to make his guests feel at home. We each had bicycles that we could use free of charge. The breakfasts that his wife made were delicious, best pancakes! We had our own bathrooms and the rooms and facilities were absolutely pristine. Trip.com indicated that this home stay had shared washrooms but this isn’t always the case, we had our own private bathrooms. We also couldn’t get enough of the rooftop pool! Dzung was so helpful showing us where to go and what to do. The home stay is so conveniently located, away from the hustle and bustle. So tranquil and peaceful. We will mostly definitely be returning. This was truly a special experience that my husband and I will never forget. Thank you Dzung and your family for being the most gracious hosts. We felt as though we were a part of your family. We will see you all soon!

Fairy Mountain Retreat

The most beautiful hotel we have stayed in so far in Vietnam. Service and staff were spot on and very attentive. Feels more like a home stay I can’t imagine how the staff could be any better. Two things to mention. If you’re looking for a good sleep I wouldn’t recommend due to chickens, dogs and other animals constantly making loud noise. I slept with headphones on so in the end didn’t matter. But what to expect when you’re sleeping in the middle of the mountains! Two -the breakfast is cook to order with limited options so it took a long time to get our food and coffee. Plus the options were unhealthy. Would have been nice for porridge and fruit. The experience was incredible, felt like a true paradise in the jungle. We loved our stay. We would stay again if we visited!
Trang An River Mountain Ecolodge

A beautiful hotel away from the main road. Unfortunately when I stayed they still had parts of the hotel under construction like the pool area and drive way and the family accommodation next to the drive way. There is also a few other houses/hotels under construction in the area at the moment so it’s not so quite during working hours. The family was very helpful and kind. I took a free bike to Trang An which was an easy 20 min ride (stopped for some pics along the way). I also ordered a late meal which they were happy to fix for me. Right by a small lake and surrounded by mountains it’s very picturesque. Large rooms and comfy beds. I would definitely recommend.

old building, old equipment. The tables and chairs on the balcony are rusty and moldy. The food is normal, not to my taste The location is too far from the center, the way is hard to find on the map, The view is normal, the service is also normal. In general, compared to 5 stars, I think it is not worthy, quite disappointed.
Chau Son Garden Resort

A luxury hotel in a quiet area. Everything is new, room was spacious, bed linen was new, towels were fluffy The room cleaning was beyond praise. There was an outdoor swimming pool and a cozy garden with swings and elegant wrought-iron garden furniture. Breakfast, Vietnamese cuisine menu to choose from: delicious soups, tea, coffee. Many thanks to the staff for organizing excursions, calling a taxi and also for solving my small problem. Special thanks to Manager Loan for a wonderful evening in the city, hospitality and warmth
