Grand Oasis Cancun - All Inclusive
3.5/544 Reviews
Avenida Kukulkan
Overall this is a decent resort with a good amount of entertainment for a younger crowd. There are lots of options for dining but if you spend your time in the buffet, the options will get a bit repetitive and are lesser in quality. There are different shows and parties each day with a new theme to keep things fresh. The staff are nice but do expect to wait in a line for drinks at most any of the bars. The rooms were clean but are beginning to show a bit of their age. Check in was smooth and checkout was even easier. They do offer Covid testing if that is something that you will need but be sure to book when you arrive as time slots can fill up quickly. Overall, the strong points of this hotel are the massive and beautiful pool, a long and well maintained beach, many options for dining, and a fun and active atmosphere.
Soho Boutique Holbox - Adults Only
4/592 Reviews
To put it plainly, Soho Holbox made our trip. When we travel, we look for authenticity, relaxation, and beauty; a great value doesn't hurt, either. Soho Holbox delivered all of this and more, and totally exceeded our expectations. I'm a person who notices things other people might miss - positive and negative. We were extremely impressed by all aspects to Soho, and after observing many other hotels on Holbox, felt that we had chosen the best one - by far. THE ROOM We stayed in a courtyard room with a king bed. The room was strikingly beautiful and very clean, incorporating the natural surroundings in the design. It felt like a retreat. The rain shower was relaxing, the bed was so comfortable that we slept like rocks. More practically: we like to have some snacks and drinks on hand, and the mini fridge easily held 12 beers and some fruit etc. The air conditioner was powerful and cold when we needed it to be. The patio off the room provided shade and privacy all day. Being sensitive to noise, I was worried being so close to the pool would be loud, but it was totally quiet and it almost felt like we had a private pool. The cleaning was impeccable (don't forget to tip your room cleaners!) THE HOTEL GROUNDS The grounds of the hotel are all open-air, allowing the natural beauty of Holbox in. Everything was shockingly clean. While there was always staff out maintaining the grounds, it was never intrusive. There is free purified water available in the lobby. The gorgeous courtyard infinity pool is surrounded by a sun deck, outdoor shower, and lounge chairs as well as tropical flora and fauna (and resident iguanas!). It is hardly used - surprising considering how nice it is, but the hotel's proximity to the beach makes it easy spend all day staring at the turquoise-green water. Soho guests have access to a beautiful white sand beach about 300 ft from the hotel. For the record, we walked all over the island and took note of the beaches at the ”high end” (read: twice as expensive) hotels, and this beach was far cleaner and quieter. There are several shaded cabanas and loungers for use, free of charge. There is intermittent drink/food service at the beach. Guests also have access to two rooftop pool/lounge areas: one at the Soho itself and one at the Spirit Hotel across the path. The Spirit has a full-service restaurant, a large lounge area (with sunset views) and a rooftop pool. Sitting in the pool while enjoying 2 for 1 Blue Mezcalita cocktails during the daily happy hour was a highlight. The Soho has breakfast included daily, which they say is a continental breakfast. This conjured images of tiny boxes of cereal and stale muffins, but what you actually get is a sit-down breakfast service with several fresh and tasty options. We really appreciated being able to start the day with a relaxing, healthy breakfast, and felt it was a great value add (hotel breakfasts on the island were about $10-$20 per person). THE STAFF While all the staff was pleasa

The accommodations at All Ritmo were exceptional! The desk staff was efficient, friendly, and answered all questions in detail. The dining staff - waiters and servers also were cordial and ensured that everything necessary for a fantastic experience was provided. The same with the pool bar staff.... very friendly and accommodating. The desk staff arranged transportation several times - it was on time and the drivers were cordial. I am recommending that my family and friends also choose All Ritmo when they travel to Cancun. My son and I thank the staff of All Ritmo for a wonderful holiday. Earl

The experience was greatly diminished when the hotel charged $150.00 for the room and key deposits. That was almost equal to the price of my entire stay. This should have been listed in the hotel description. Only stating that additional charges may be charged does not warn of the excessive charge I received. In addition, I am still fighting with them to get part of the deposit back. I travel frequently and this charge was definitely more than most hotels. And obviously, if complaints are not lodged, the deposits are not returned.
Temptation Cancun Resort - All Inclusive - Adults Only

Bait and switch masters. Given the fact that this is a very popular resort, management obviously feels entitled to provide the service they deem minimally sufficient in order to maximize profits. My wife and I unknowingly made reservations for a takeover four day weekend. The group doing the takeover had their own events either away from the resort or in specific areas of the resort with no access available to the other guests. I had no issue with that fact given that they paid extra for their events. The fact that the group had over 80% of the rooms reserved resulted in the events organized for the rest of the guests, having next to no attendance, the club was dead every night we were there. The takeover group was very friendly and we had no issues with them. We didn’t see them very much. I requested a transfer to another one of their resorts but Adrian Guevara, supervisor on duty for Premier member services, was unwilling to transfer us unless I paid current prices for those resorts. I made my reservation for temptation ten months ago and even then, the rooms were far from inexpensive. I was not willing to pay more to be transferred. Mr Guevara was rude and the furthest thing from service oriented. Though the entertainment staff tried to improve the atmosphere, the playmakers were for the most part, the only ones on the dance floor every night we were there. Overall, a very unpleasant experience.

The moment you cross the threshold, it's as though you've stepped into a different realm, a realm where design aesthetics blend harmoniously with the natural beauty of Tulum. Whether bathing under the warmth of the morning sun or under the cool gaze of the evening stars, the outdoor shower truly is a delightful touch. Further adding to the bespoke experience is a personal plunge pool that is a part of every room. A secluded sanctuary for rejuvenation, it allows guests to enjoy a soothing dip at their convenience. Additionally, the hotel's main pool, an epitome of artistic design, serves as an inviting hub for social interaction and relaxation. The wellness journey at the Muare Hotel is underscored by its serene spa, a haven where guests can unwind and experience revitalizing treatments. It's a sanctuary where self-care takes precedence, and tranquility is guaranteed. The dining experience at Muare Hotel is a gastronomic adventure led by the hotel’s remarkable restaurant, Gaudea. Marrying Mexican and Mediterranean cuisines in an exquisite fusion, Gaudea ensures a culinary voyage that appeals to every palate. A testament to their inclusivity is the thoughtful gluten-free menu, promising that every guest can savor this journey without compromise. The Brown Butter Fish with Toasted Almonds, in particular, stands out for its delightful balance of flavors, a must-try for any guest. In summary, the Muare Hotel, Tulum, is more than a luxurious stay; it's a holistic experience. The thoughtfully designed rooms, top-notch amenities, sumptuous cuisine, and the overall ambiance of serenity make it a destination in itself. For any traveler visiting Tulum, I strongly recommend the Muare Hotel. It's not just a hotel, it's a journey into a realm of luxury and tranquility. An unmissable gem, Muare Hotel stands as a testament to a perfect blend of style, comfort, and culinary artistry.

Hotel NYX Cancun

There were no major issues during our stay. Excellent service! Tips: Bring plenty of $1s for tipping. I'd recommend tipping around $1 per drink and $5-$10 per meal, more for above-and-beyond service.) Take care of the staff and they will take care of you. Meals: Know the dress code before you dine. The sushi restaurant at Umami doesn't require reservations and the food was amazing. Ivonne, our server, provided superior service. Also, as a vegetarian, I was happy that most of the menus indicated which items were vegetarian, but it was a little frustrating at the buffets to not know which items had meat. For example, at breakfast, I didn't know that the refried beans were made with lard. (However, when we asked about it, the staff offered to accommodate my dietary restrictions the next time we dined. Unfortunately, it was too late as we were leaving early the next morning.) Drinks: The drinks were excellent, I recommend getting a michelada (beer with lime and clam juice). Pools: There are two pools, a pool with a bar (not a swim-up bar) and another with hot tubs. There were plenty of daily activities at the main pool. Rooms: Our room (standard) was great, two double beds. No issues with cleanliness or maid service. I loved that there was a magnifying mirror for putting on makeup in the bathroom. The lighting in the bathroom was also good for makeup/grooming. There was a hairdryer. Toiletries provided included shampoo, soap, body wash, and lotion. There was an iron and ironing board. The mini-fridge was stocked daily (not by the maids, a different person kept the fridge stocked) with a Sprite, a Coke, 2 large waters, and two beers. (If you need more water, just ask at the front desk.) There's also a coffee pot in the room. All-inclusive: Know ahead of time what's included in the all-inclusive package and/or don't assume; just ask! The all-inclusive does NOT include room service, premium drinks, spa services, certain menu items, or tips. Also, there are some restrictions regarding the Italian restaurant and Umami, but you can eat at Umami without reservations; you only need reservations to sit at the hibachi bar. I made sure to read a lot of reviews for Hotel NYX before this trip; the negative ones seem to be written by disgruntled guests who were rude to the staff or upset about an issue they didn't report during their stay (waiting till they left to complain). Hats off to the guest experience manager who artfully responds to every single review.
