"This 40-year-old hotel is incredibly well-maintained and has a charming, cozy, vintage vibe. We opted for a Mount Fuji view room, and if the weather cooperates, you get stunning views of Fuji-san. Hotel guests also have access to the nearby hot spring baths, about a five-minute walk away, though a heads-up: those with tattoos are not permitted. The breakfast spread is fantastic, offering a wide variety of both Japanese and Western options. The hotel is conveniently located right next to the entrance of Fuji-Q Highland amusement park, and there's a fantastic Italian restaurant downstairs. The food there is absolutely delicious – I went three times during my two-day stay! Highly recommend it."

With a stay at Kawaguchiko Hotel in Fujikawaguchiko, you'll be on a lake, within a 15-minute walk of Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway and Lake Kawaguchi. Getting to nearby attractions is a breeze with the complimentary area shuttle. Stop by the hotel's restaurant for dinner, or grab snacks at the coffee shop/cafe. Quench your thirst with your favorite drink at the bar/lounge. Local cuisine breakfasts are available daily from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM for a fee. Featured amenities include a business center, complimentary newspapers in the lobby, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite. "This hotel has a very traditional, old-fashioned feel. We arrived at Lake Kawaguchiko around 11 PM, so we had to take a taxi to the hotel. We rang the bell at the front desk, and a staff member, wearing traditional wooden clogs, came out. They barely understood English but were very dedicated. They escorted us to our room, meticulously explaining each facility, and even gestured to show us where breakfast would be served. If you want a lake view, I recommend booking a Japanese-style room. We booked a Western-style room, which was on the other side, and in the morning, we saw smoke rising from chimneys outside – a charming, everyday scene. We didn't see any bears, but surprisingly, we spotted monkeys! Breakfast was a set meal, though eating fish so early in the morning took some getting used to. The morning shuttle can take you to Lake Kawaguchiko. For the return trip in the afternoon, the shuttle only picks up after 3 PM. Alternatively, you can take the Red Line bus to a jewelry museum (I can't recall the exact stop) and walk a few steps from there. On weekend evenings, you can watch fireworks from across the river, right outside the hotel. They launch them from both the left and right sides. If you want a closer view, follow the crowd to the left for about 10 minutes."

"It was late at night, and the parking lot was full. Fortunately, the hotel had a second parking lot in another place. It took about 3 minutes to walk. The hotel front desk would give a picture with a clear direction. The hotel bath is very small and exquisite, in addition to the hot soup, there are cold springs and sauna rooms. The room is small, but very clean, the hotel will have free tea and rice at night."

"Staying at this resort was a truly relaxing experience. The peaceful and quiet surroundings, combined with the beautiful view of Mount Fuji, made it unforgettable. The highlight was soaking in the hot spring while looking out at the mountain — it was incredibly calming and special. The resort itself is small and a bit old, but it has a cozy and tranquil atmosphere that adds to its charm. If you are looking for a place to unwind away from the busy city, this is a great choice. I would especially recommend it for families who want to spend quality time together in a serene environment."

"Just a heads-up, there are two of these hotels in Kofu, so make sure you choose the one near the station. The food was great, with lots of local Kofu specialties, and everything smelled delicious. The hot springs were also very relaxing. However, the hotel is located at a crossroads where pedestrians can't cross directly, so you have to walk a detour, which was a bit inconvenient."

en Kunitachi, a relaxation mansion that has reached its 60th anniversary since its founding. A place to quietly let go of the daily hustle and bustle and gently calm your mind. Please enjoy the time when your mind slowly unwinds amidst the cuisine that reflects the changing seasons, the warmth of the gentle hot water, and the carefully layered hospitality. You can relax in the tatami-floored rooms throughout the building, looking out at the garden woven by the rich natural scenery, and also unwind in the lobby or the terrace of the atrium. It was definitely an enjoyable and worthy experience of traditional ryokan with tatami and futon with the best view of Mt. Fuji from the room window! The hotel itself overlooks parts of Mt. Fuji with Lake Kawaguchiko, and we even added on dinner and breakfast during the stay! They are simply one of the best meals during the trips in Tokyo! The onsen is another bonus to enjoy while seeing the view of Mt Fuji, even though it is public hot spring which might be a culture shock. Definitely worth to try it out again to enjoy the traditional Japan vibes around Lake Kawaguchiko.

We spent our anniversary with my girlfriend in Kaneyamaen, and our experience was above and beyond. Starting with the shuttle option provided by the hotel from Mishima station, which also took us to Oshino hakkai, what a gorgeous place, before ending up at the hotel. We were really satisfied of our driver who shared facts about Yamanashi prefecture and Fuji. Our check-in process was also a really nice experience. From the moment we arrived we felt the hospitality of the hotel service crew. They escorted us to our room and helped with our luggage. Staying at a Sanri-Comfort Western Room, we had access to 2 lounges, where in one of them we had access to many kind of amazing wine from Yamanashi, among other tasty snacks. We choose our yukata and headed for matcha tasting. This is located in another part of the building which also gives us a peak at the wonderful garden. The matcha and snack we received helped us settle in with the calm garden view. Then came dinner. My god, the dinner was above and beyond. Neither of us had an 8 course dinner before with such a perfect service and absolutely amazing food. Hats of to the restaurant and service crew. Truly impressed. We decided to walk of the calories in the hotels beautiful garden at night. The illumination creates a really romantic experience. After this, we attended the Taiko drum show, which is organized by the hotel crew. First time for me and I can say it definitely made our experience even more special. Fantastic work. Then the star of the show. The open-air bath on the balcony. The sight of Mt. Fuji early morning from the bath, was a magical experience which we'll never forget. The buffet breakfast provides a great selection of food and drinks, rest assured we left very pleased. All in all, this was an extraordinary stay for us. Nothing but max points. Wish we'll have the chance to visit again.

We had a wonderful stay at Grand Mercure Yatsugatake as a family traveling with a baby. The hotel is surrounded by nature, with beautiful views of the mountains, which immediately creates a calm and relaxing atmosphere — perfect for families who want to slow down and breathe. The hotel is very family-friendly. Traveling with a baby can be stressful, but the staff made us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived. Everyone was kind, patient, and attentive, which really made a difference for us as parents. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet, with enough space to comfortably stay with a baby. We especially appreciated the peaceful environment at night, which allowed our baby (and us!) to rest well. The facilities were also well suited for families. The common areas are easy to navigate with a stroller, and the overall layout of the hotel feels relaxed and not overwhelming. The natural surroundings add a special charm and make the stay feel refreshing and rejuvenating. Overall, Grand Mercure Yatsugatake is an excellent choice for families with babies who are looking for comfort, tranquility, and good service in a beautiful natural setting. We would definitely consider coming back and recommend it to other families traveling with young children.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Shimobe Hotel. I originally wanted to stay at a nearby temple in Mount Minobe but realized that it was mainly an experience made for foreigners. I think we were the only foreigners there for our 2-night stay. I personality want to avoid staying with foreigners and want more of the local experience. The service was great, they could check you in and out without too much of a language barrier. We added dinner during check-in without any problem, we realized that the town closed early at night and was concerned that we wouldn't find a great place to eat dinner. The buffet dinner was great and we got a complimentary sashimi plate and yuzu highball on our second day. The breakfast buffet was also very good with a mix of local and western dishes. The station is located right near the hotel so it makes it a perfect spot to make a quick Mount Minobe day trip.

Service staff were efficient, although queueing to trade your keys for your shoes slowed things down. (Understandable, because this is also a day-trip onsen, so the hotel needs to ensure all tabs are covered before letting guests go.) Facilities were old but well-maintained, although my room window couldn't be closed without force. Wide variety of baths to choose from, and convenient hours. Note that there is no shampoo, conditioner or body soap in guestrooms, as this is an onsen facility - all soaps and bath amenities are provided in the onsen area. Several onsite restaurants providing many food options, which made up for the lack of vegetarian-friendly options around the area.

The hotel is less than a 10-minute drive from Kawaguchiko Station. You can spot it right from the parking lot to the right of the station exit, though there's no inquiry counter nearby to call for a pickup. The room offered a stunning lake view, which was absolutely beautiful. There's a hot spring on the ground floor, and dinner is served on the 7th floor of the East Building. The food was good, and the tempura was especially delicious. Overall, this is a great hotel.

The room is nice. But It used to be more impressive when we stayed at this ryokan 5-6 years ago. Somehow we felt like their service dropped significantly. Everything are more strict for example daily cleaning time is 11.00 -11.30 only and cannot be postpone. Check out time is 11.00 and then we decide to chill a bit at the lobby before leaving ( around 11.20 ) they politely asked us to leave by telling us that they will clean the lobby. Which I think is there right to do so but it really feels uptight - not relax at all - and not as impressive like the other ryokans we stayed.
