This was definitely a mixed visit. On arrival we were checked in quite quickly receptionist was firmly enough although the reception desk itself seemed more like an information hub then a check in desk so the initial walk in was a bit confusing for me and my partner who don't stay in many hotels.. the one main thing that I noticed in the reception area is just through a set of double doors towards what would seem to be a fitness studio with an overlook of the pool had a chair with quite a nasty looking stain picture included. On arrival into the room things seemed clean tidy and presentable although there were a couple of things that could have been better for example one normal sized towel and 3 hand towels wasn't great and 2 towels would have been better, the toilet roll was very basic and clearly the cheaper stuff which you wouldn't so much expect when staying at a village hotel, there was a tile missing on the bathroom floor with a questionable amount of dust and dirt inside and around this hole and finally the doorframe seemed to be hanging off pictures of this are included. We had a look at the restraunt menu and it's safe to day if you don't fancy a burger, salad or chicken wings you will have to make other arrangements as we did by visiting the local residence 74 cafe about a mile away where we had a lovely time great food and a reasonable meal price. The bar is quite an open space and at first a bit confusing as there are some cinema chairs and big tvs but only playing the news. We had a drink I'm the evening this was probably priced for the venue but at £15 for a single vodka and lemonade and a double whisky we decided on only one when we found out that the bar closed for residents at 11pm which we found a bit early as other places stay open for residents. Room service would have been an option but from what I read this finished at 9.30pm and the is no in room phone to order such. Sleep was comfortable and sheets were clean it was just very hot as the window barely opens, there was no fan provided and no aircon. The TV also says its an Internet TV but upon attempt of connection no services were available. This morning the hotel seemed alot calmer and relaxed, we weren't sure of the breakfast procedures at all so we just sat down and were asked our room number but my partner got quite frustrated as she is autistic and no clear instructions were given it took us a while to source out breakfast and when we did we noticed it was very limited consisting of mushroom scrambled egg starnge potato circles beans tomatoes sausage and bacon. Honestly for me hash Brown's and black pudding are staples of English breakfast and should always be included when possible but unfortunately they were unavailable. I was going to ask a staff member but only one was seen briefly. There was also a High table next to us that was very dirty and when the staff member went to clean she simply sprayed it didn't wipe it and moved on, this didn't seem very hygienic. Breakfast was very average the addition of streaky bacon and chipolata sausages as opposed to tradition thick sausages and back bacon seemed very odd and definitely not our cup of tea! Coffee was not good atall however they do have a starbucks with is great because we do enjoy it. The night receptionist seemed to keeping a very close on me without speaking I found this quite lntimidating as a hotel guest and would have preferred him to ask me any concerns he had other than staring at me until I awkwardly said hello in which he just smiled and looked away briefly until I did then followed me with his eyes towards the stairs and no doubt watched me on camera until I entered my room. Overall a fair experience perfect I guess if you just need a quick room and have to extra money to burn but not ideal for us so probably wouldn't return.

The hotel benefits from a very convenient location, which is one of its strongest points. It was generally clean, but several issues negatively impacted our stay. Our first room was uncomfortably cold, with half the lights not working and a loose faucet in the bathroom, suggesting a lack of proper maintenance. After reporting the heating problem, we were moved to another room. However, it became clear that we were not the only ones experiencing this issue—other guests were also having their rooms changed due to cold temperatures. It seems that because the hotel is so large, staff may not have the time to check the heating systems in all rooms. Compounding this, the rooms tended to get very stuffy, making it hard to find a comfortable temperature. When we requested extra bedding because there were three of us but only two duvets provided, we were informed that housekeeping had none available. This was surprising and inconvenient, as basic bedding for all guests should have been ensured. The bedding, although washed, had visible stains on some sheets, detracting from the overall impression of cleanliness. Adding to the disorganization, the cleaning staff worked at very unusual hours. When we returned from dinner well after 10 PM, room cleaning was still ongoing, which was unexpected. Another frustrating issue was that one of the elevator call buttons (for going down) did not work, and no notice or sign had been placed to inform guests. This added unnecessary inconvenience and further highlighted a lack of attention to detail. Overall, while the location and basic cleanliness are positives, the hotel suffers from significant maintenance issues, inconsistent heating, a shortage of basic amenities like extra duvets, unusual cleaning schedules, and overlooked problems like broken elevator buttons. Addressing these concerns could significantly improve the guest experience.

We got put in a very small double bedroom (standard double) but there was barely any room to move about, even the bathroom was tiny. I went and spoke to the manager who was lovely and upgraded us to the executive suite (honeymoon) no extra charge as it was my partners birthday. Absolutely amazing !!

My 3rd time staying in this hotel this time in room 319 the room was good and bed was comfortable massive bathroom. Only down side to this stay was the fire alarm going off at 6am in the morning. No view from the window and the bathroom door didn't shut as it was hanging off the hinges. But I'd use the hotel again

The hotel is just opposite the train station, the location is good to eat any dishes and supermarket is very closed . Before we checked in , i requested connecting rooms but they said no connecting rooms. The hotel upgraded us to have executive rooms . It was appreciated. But they didn’t clean and tidy and refilled new towels everyday, the 2 nd day. The room keeping manager attitude was very bad, blamed me to disturb her schedule, asked her Warden to do extra bedroom 😅😅😅😅. The fact was that morning the toilet was blocked , tried to call at 1000 to ask somebody come up to check , since nobody appeared and warden was cleaning in next room. So I asked for assistance, the Warden is very nice and helpful, he informed her room keeping manager then cleaned and bumped my toilet After that the room keeping manager came up and blamed to the Warden in next room , I was very frustrated then she walked to my room door and complained to me . What kind of attitude she was . I called to the receptionist asked somebody explained and apologized but no news . But till now no one contacted me from the hotel. About the last day I need to took the earlier train to airport, I would like to get refund of 2 rooms breakfast but failed they said they can offer a padded breakfast to me . They did on time but with no hot coffee as I requested.😓🤷♀️

Good location next to train station - due to ongoing building works at the train station it’s easiest/quicker to get to the hotel near the entrance/exit closest to platform 16 (I ply found this out after walking the long way round 🤦♀️). Refurbished room was nice. Bath was small. Would opt for walk-in shower next time. Temperature too warm but staff provided a fan on request. Double bed fine for a solo traveller. Wouldn’t have been too comfortable for two. No radio in room or on TV which would have been nice. Robes, slippers, tea/coffee making facilities, iron and hair fro provided. Breakfast - good selection for hot and cold breakfast options. Would be nice to have better decaf coffee. Newly renovated lobby area was nice. Perfume smell wafted into breakfast room and was a bit overpowering at times. That being said the ground floor entrance doesn’t smell good (you’ll get over it) so I can see why this is needed. Newly renovated lobby/bar area is nice. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Overall I had a pleasant stay and I would stay here again as a solo traveller. If I was travelling with another adult we would require a larger bed to ensure a more comfortable rest/sleep so possibly an upgrade or a second room would be needed.

The room was nice and I loved the food at their restaurant. The only issue was their flush, they said they did some new plumbing and since then the flush needed an extra push, which in general were difficult and if you have longer nails it's extra difficult.

Cheap and cheerful is the best way to describe this hotel. It is situated on an industrial estate. Reception is a corner of the bar. I was greeted by a friendly member of staff when I arrived. The bar area is very clean and well spaced out. However if you arrive at the weekend at night the only food available is sandwiches or pizza and kitchen closes at 8pm. The rooms are in a separate building which look like a low rise block of flats. The rooms are very clean but they are stuck in the 1970’s. Bed super comfy for me and linen pristine white as are the towels. Plenty of tea and coffee available. Though would be nice if they offered decaf tea as well as coffee. Breakfast was included in my price which was excellent. This hotel is mostly used by workers who need an overnight stay. When I went out of my room there were plenty of staff cleaning every thing on site. The signage was being wiped down. Stair hand rails being cleaned, carpark was immaculate. All in all if you are looking for a cheap stop over and don’t mind 1970’s decor this is a good place to stay.
