Location of hotel is excellent! Easily accessible from metro and other touristy places. The room is essentially equipped with necessities. Front desk staff are polite, helpful, and provide good directions to places which I wanted to go and food recommendations.

This is an eager five-star review, starting with a special shout-out to Bernie and Grace at the Executive Lounge for their exceptional help and superb coffee! All the other staff were also very nice, and the desserts by the plump chef at breakfast were incredibly amazing. It was a perfect travel experience, full marks.
Now for the specifics. From the check-in date, the experience was top-notch. For my 4-day trip, the front desk offered a room upgrade at the minimum extra cost, allowing my whole family to enjoy a full river view plus executive benefits throughout our stay. The rooftop swimming pool was fantastic; the water quality was perfect, and swimming naked at night didn't feel uncomfortable at all. My baby practically lived in the pool and executive lounge for several days. The breakfast was more Western-style, with unbeatable desserts. The ice cream and donuts were outstanding. The Executive Lounge is on the 28th floor, and lunch is à la carte. I highly recommend the foie gras and wagyu burger – absolutely fantastic. The beef was cooked to perfection, and the tenderness of the foie gras and beef complemented each other beautifully. For afternoon tea, there were various coffee options, and the cappuccino and iced latte I tried were both excellent. The light dinner in the evening was more than sufficient for a traveler; the creamy mushroom chicken stew, grilled sausages, and curry beef left a very deep impression.
Finally, let's talk about the room and hotel environment. Kempinski perfectly replicated the essence of classic elegance. While the room facilities might seem a bit dated, the hotel redefined luxury with its tangible comfort. The room temperature was always just right, and the experience with personal garments, towels, and bedding made you unconsciously indulge in the luxury. Even the blankets by the pool were warm, truly embodying the idea of 'warm service.'
Lastly, to pick a bone, I'll offer some limited suggestions as a guest: Firstly, with the economic downturn, family travel will gradually become mainstream. Breakfast could add some kid-friendly items like smiley potato fries, ketchup, and bolognese pasta, which wouldn't significantly increase costs. Secondly, the glass needs cleaning, especially the panoramic glass at the pool, as it affects the view.
I can't come up with a third point because the experience was truly excellent. I hope they continue their efforts. As a long-established luxury hotel in the 'center of the universe,' it needs to uphold not only its style and culture but also persistent passion and warmth. I will definitely visit again. (The ice cream wasn't replenished; it was photographed after closing, which shows how popular it is!)
I chose a king room on a high floor, and was absolutely blown away when I opened the window – the Lujiazui 'Three-Piece Suit' (iconic skyscrapers) was right in my line of sight! At night, I could lie in bed and watch the lights of the Shanghai Tower twinkle on; the ambiance was just incredible.
The room felt much larger than I expected, over 35 sqm. The light wood tones paired with Morandi colors and hidden light strips created a clean, comfortable feel, completely devoid of the usual business hotel stuffiness. The bedding was so soft; once I lay down, I didn't want to get up. For business travelers and tourists alike, a comfortable stay is truly paramount.
The bathroom featured a dry and wet separation, with the toilet, shower area, and vanity completely separate and spotlessly clean, which made it very reassuring to use.
It's about a 10-minute walk to Beiyangjing Road Station on Metro Line 6, and only 5 minutes to LCM Xuhui Plaza. Getting to the core area of Lujiazui and Century Avenue is very quick, and there are plenty of bus routes nearby. Downstairs, there's a convenience store and snack shops, so finding a late-night bite is no problem. It's also not far from Yaohan and 96 Square, making shopping and dining incredibly convenient.

The overall environment exceeded my expectations. The room was well-lit and airy, and the cleanliness was exceptional. All the toiletries were provided. The staff were friendly and gentle, and the place was quiet, making my stay very peaceful and comfortable. The environment is great, the service is excellent, and the transportation nearby is very convenient, with Metro City and Plaza 66 right next door.

This hotel is located in the ICBC building, and the service is exceptionally good; they even deliver takeout right to your room.
The hotel's location is on the south side of the Bund, with a pier right outside. It's very close to Nanjing East Road, about two bus stops away. We stayed in a king room where we could see both the Oriental Pearl Tower and the 'Bund International Architecture Exhibition' (the historical buildings). You can see the 'Shanghai Three-Piece Suit' (iconic skyscrapers) right from the hotel.
When there's a crowd, watching the lights turn on from the hotel room is spectacular.
Ordering food from nearby is very convenient; you can get all sorts of takeout. So, ordering takeout and eating in your room at this hotel is a fantastic experience.

Very nice and cozy hotel near Disneyland and the airport. Booked a 2 bedded room and the staff at the reception kindly upgraded us to a more spacious room. The rooms are very clean and spacious, there are also some shops and eateries right outside the hotel. Very convenient, we stayed a night before our early morning flight. Hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle to the airport. Highly recomended. Thank you to the staff for making our short stay such a pleasant one.

Facilities: The hotel has a gym and laundry room, which is sufficient for a city hotel. The location is very close to the middle section of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, and it's about an 8-minute walk to the subway.
Cleanliness: The overall cleanliness is good, especially since it's a new hotel.
Environment: There's a foreign language bookstore across the street, which is a great place for kids to spend time when it rains. Dining options nearby are also very convenient, and delivery from many popular restaurants is very fast.
Service: All the staff are very enthusiastic. Since I don't drink beer, they even swapped out the beer in the mini-bar for soda water, which was a nice touch.
Complimentary Late-Night Snacks: You can enjoy late-night snacks every day, though we only went once on our first night after arriving from the airport. They offer noodles, rice noodles, etc. – a very thoughtful service.
Single Buffet Afternoon Tea: We didn't get to experience the afternoon tea at all, as we were out exploring.
Breakfast: Most standard items are available, and the food is replenished very quickly.
Issues: During the transition from winter to spring, the air conditioning for cooling hadn't been activated yet. On the first day, I asked the front desk and they said it was still unified heating. So, we didn't have AC during our stay. Luckily, the temperature in Shanghai wasn't too high these past few days, otherwise, the room would have been quite warm. When checking out, the front desk staff member mentioned that after our feedback, the cooling function was made available, but no one informed us, so we were unaware of this.

It’s a great hotel for a couple nights’ stay. Although it feels somewhat dated (it really shows in such a hi-tech city as Shanghai) and the public spaces are cramped (the gym gives claustrophobic vibes when there are more than 5 people in it), especially considering the size of the building and number of rooms - it may suit well for a conservative traveller, or if you have to stay in this particular area, or simply if you enjoy being among European/South American tourists (I got an impression that locals don’t stay here). In a nutshell, the location is unbeatable, the breakfasts were good (half of dishes were westernized), staff speaks English and is helpful, the view from my room was breathtaking, nights were quiet. Some fresh towels were still stained, tho. Not good.

My stay at the Jinlai Hotel was fantastic! The location is superb, very convenient with easy access to the subway and shopping areas. The room was clean, tidy, and stylishly decorated, with soft bedding and excellent soundproofing, ensuring a great night's sleep. The front desk staff were warm, efficient, and provided thoughtful service, responding quickly to all requests. It offers incredible value for money, and I'll definitely stay here again on my next visit. Highly recommended!
The location is absolutely unbeatable, within walking distance to Nanjing Road, The Bund, and People's Square, and right outside a subway station. It's incredibly convenient for exploring and dining, offering a quiet retreat in a bustling area. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the service is spot-on. Perfect for both business and leisure travelers. Full marks!

Back again! It feels like I'm always here, but it's been three months since my last stay. This time, it was just a quick overnight stop.
Manager Wang, knowing I was coming, even came out to greet us, which made my wife and I feel incredibly welcomed and respected. The two managers at the Grand Tower front desk (one gentleman with glasses, one lady with blonde hair, both manager-level) greeted me with friendly nods and bright smiles. That's the familiar Shangri-La warmth.
I won't dwell on the facilities too much. Let's just say, if I absolutely had to comment on them, the location of Pudong Shangri-La is its undeniable calling card. However, by my standards, the rooms are frankly outdated, or to put it simply, too old and worn. But with the current high occupancy, I don't think it's feasible for Pudong Shangri-La to halt such a good cash flow for a full renovation. If top-notch facilities are your priority, then Pudong Shangri-La isn't for you; there are plenty of other options. I think seasoned hotel guests will understand what I mean.
Since I had quite a bit to drink with friends the night before, my wife went to breakfast alone the next day. Just like last time, there was no one to seat her, and she mentioned that the dining room wasn't very busy that morning. The lack of proper seating at breakfast indicates that this service detail hasn't been improved, or perhaps the service awareness among some of the younger staff hasn't improved. There's more to this later. As I was still resting, the internal service staff provided a takeaway paper bag and drink cups, which was excellent. No fuss, unlike some hotels where you have to explain yourself if you take a little food. In all my years staying at Pudong Shangri-La, I haven't encountered that problem.
Then, I have to talk about the room again. I often stay in room types 60 and 61, but this time, the elevator noise was noticeably distinct. I'm not sure why. I've already provided feedback to Manager Wang about this. Next time, I might need to switch to a different room type.
Also, the Luxury Club has updated its slippers. The material is noticeably better than before. This is something I wanted to mention. Since a major overhaul of the facilities isn't likely for now, it's crucial to focus on these smaller, manageable details. I hope senior management considers our suggestion: do the small things that can be done as best as possible to retain the loyalty of frequent guests like us.
Around 12:00 PM, I went to check out with my room card. The front desk at the Grand Tower (the one closest to the elevator at that time) had a female receptionist, probably under thirty, with a grim expression, no smile, staring intently at her computer. When I handed her my room card, she took it casually, without any polite words or even a hint of a smile. This was the only part of my stay that felt inappropriate. However, given my previous experience with that 'weak-zhi' Xiao Ying at the Pujiang Tower front desk, I don't have high expectations for these young front desk staff anyway. Their turnover rate is high, and I'd bet their overall quality and service awareness are non-existent. For instance, Manager Wang has been at the hotel for over ten years and treats it like home. But these young people from vocational schools, with limited education, lack any overarching service perspective. They're just coasting along, ready to leave if they don't like it. I can picture the unmotivated lifestyles of these young people nowadays.
I won't be giving Manager Wang any lucky charms this time. Much has been said in praise, and the criticisms aren't something that can be changed overnight. But isn't it a blessing for the hotel to have guests like us who genuinely appreciate their stay? So, cherish it well! Oh, by the way, Shanghai has been full of foreigners lately, which is interesting. My wife said she was surrounded by all sorts of foreigners at breakfast, and my friends staying at other equivalent hotels in Shanghai reported the same. It's quite fun! I'll be back at the end of the month. Manager Wang, please have a suite ready for me this time. Don't disappoint me! Haha!

GGuest UserThe Waldorf Astoria Shanghai on the Bund is undeniably the benchmark for luxury hotels in the Bund area! Its century-old architecture is steeped in history, and the central atrium and staircase evoke the charm of a British gentlemen's club, making every photo a vintage masterpiece. The exclusive concierge service, with Emily and Echo providing exceptionally attentive care, ensured a seamless arrival and departure experience. Our room boasted unparalleled river views, with floor-to-ceiling windows directly facing the Lujiazui skyline, making for a truly luxurious and comfortable stay. Their prompt and professional responsiveness truly embodies the motto 'the more you indulge, the more memorable it becomes.' Highly recommended!
JjaspenI've wanted to stay at the W Shanghai - The Bund for a long time, and finally got to during my recent trip to Shanghai. It wasn't as perfect as I'd imagined.
First, the good points: The environment is nice, and the cleanliness is decent. The staff are very friendly, and the breakfast offers a wide variety. The outdoor bar was the best experience.
Now, for the less satisfying aspects:
1. Previously, when staying at hotels, you could contact scalpers or certain individuals on platforms to use their membership tiers for room upgrades. Since I booked in advance, I contacted them early about a possible upgrade. I was told that if there was an available room type on the day, I could be upgraded. However, on the day of check-in, they claimed there were no rooms available and didn't upgrade me. At the time, I checked the Ctrip app and saw that rooms *were* available. I'm a platinum member with upgrade benefits, and I still didn't get one.
2. My Ctrip booking included two complimentary drinks, but the front desk didn't provide vouchers during check-in. I only found out at the bar that I needed to go back to the front desk to get them.
3. I had a lot of things and wanted to use the black bag in the closet. Unfortunately, it was broken, and the hotel hadn't replaced it in time.
GGuest UserThe Peninsula Shanghai, nestled by the Waibaidu Bridge, the Monument to the People's Heroes, and the Bund, might not be described as 'convenient' in the traditional sense, but I found its location perfect for soaking in the unique Shanghainese vibe! The service here is wonderfully old-school and distinctively 'Shanghai' – unhurried yet efficient, demonstrating a clear and deep understanding of guest needs. The rooms are classic Peninsula style, with well-defined functional areas, superb soundproofing, and impeccable cleanliness and maintenance, putting my mind completely at ease. The dining experience was a genuine delight; both breakfast and the Cantonese restaurant in the evening were so memorable. I particularly loved the evening bath ritual – pressing the SPA button and immersing myself in the tranquil, ethereal music, it felt like I was back in a cozy island retreat! My two-day Peninsula experience was a solid 12 out of 10. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai who wants to truly experience its unique charm!
CCarol Lim KHStayed at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai, Pudong for one night, and it was truly a memorable experience. We were two female travelers and booked a Skyline View Twin Room.
The room was spacious, elegant, and beautifully designed, with a modern yet luxurious feel. The highlight was definitely the stunning skyline view—especially at night, the city lights created a breathtaking atmosphere right from the comfort of our room. It was a perfect setting to relax and unwind.
The beds were extremely comfortable, with high-quality linens that ensured a restful sleep. The room was impeccably clean, and every detail reflected the hotel’s high standards. The bathroom was equally impressive, featuring a well-designed layout, a strong shower, and a generous bathtub, making the overall experience even more enjoyable.
The service was exceptional, as expected from a Ritz-Carlton property. The staff were professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Check-in and check-out were smooth and efficient.
The location in Pudong is very convenient, with easy access to shopping malls, restaurants, and key attractions. It is an excellent choice for both leisure and business travelers.
Overall, this hotel offers a perfect combination of luxury, comfort, and service. It was a wonderful stay, and I would definitely return in the future.
IImyyjmI stayed in the Panorama Bund Retreat King Bed Room with Oriental Pearl Tower View. The panoramic views are unbelievably beautiful and can be enjoyed both from the room and the large bathtub. The window stretches almost the entire width of the room, with a large sofa beside it that allows you to sit comfortably and fully appreciate the skyline.
The bed was incredibly spacious and comfortable, and the staff even brought scented oils to help with relaxation and sleep, which was a lovely touch.
I must have arrived during a particularly busy period because the restaurant was always crowded and there was usually a queue for breakfast. However, on one occasion I was offered a takeaway breakfast box instead as I was in a hurry.
As I do not have a Chinese phone number, I had difficulty ordering food from outside the hotel. Since the hotel had no halal and vegetarian options aside from one pasta dish, a member of staff kindly used their own phone to help me place an order and allowed me to reimburse them through Alipay. I thought this was incredibly thoughtful and helpful service.
Even spending time in the hotel lobby felt relaxing, as the pink cherry blossoms outside the windows created such a beautiful atmosphere.
The spa treatments were excellent and deeply relaxing. Lisa was fantastic and made the entire experience feel comfortable and welcoming. The in-room amenities were also wonderful! I loved the fragrance of the body lotion so much that I bought one from the spa before leaving.
This has become one of my favourite hotels, and I already can’t wait to return.

AAnonymous UserThe Pullman Shanghai Jing An is super conveniently located right next to Shanghai Railway Station, just a five-minute walk away. Plus, there's a Metro Line 1 station right outside, making it incredibly easy to get to all the nearby attractions and shopping areas. The front desk and concierge service was excellent – warm, attentive, and very polite. Our room was fully equipped, clean, and tidy. I especially loved the TV with screen mirroring; it was really handy. Breakfast on the first floor offered a great variety and tasted delicious. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Shanghai!
HHHHsmileTo Shanghai Jin Jiang International Hotels Group, Management of Jing An Kunlun Hotel, and the Atrium Cafe Team,
As frequent travelers who have stayed in many five-star-plus hotels around the world, my 80-year-old mother and I would like to share an honest note about our recent stay at your hotel. To be frank, the overall service didn’t quite meet the five-star standard we’ve come to expect — for instance, on a rainy day, the front desk staff could have been more proactive and welcoming, especially to elderly guests. The lobby manager and housekeeping team could also respond faster to requests from executive lounge guests, without delays or indifference. That said, Mr. Liu, a server at the first-floor Atrium Cafe, truly impressed us — so much so that we would happily recommend your hotel to family and friends.
Mr. Liu is dedicated, professional, and highly efficient. Even at his busiest moments, he remains calm, well-organized, and always smiling — polite, warm, and attentive to every request and question. What stands out even more is his thoughtful, patient care for elderly guests. He knows the Atrium Cafe and the hotel inside out, and is equally familiar with the neighborhood and Shanghai’s tourist scene. He gave us plenty of practical tips, which made our trip so much more enjoyable.
When choosing a hotel, location and facilities certainly matter — but what truly makes guests want to come back are staff like Mr. Liu. We do hope the management recognizes more and encourages him further. Excellent staff deserve appreciation, and true talent should be retained.
Thank you, Mr. Liu, and kudos to the Atrium Cafe for its great food and dining experience. We look forward to seeing Jin Jiang Group, Jing An Kunlun Hotel, and the Atrium Cafe keep raising the bar — and have more wonderful employees like Mr. Liu in the future.

GGuest UserVery satisfied with this hotel! The location is superb, really close to the subway station, and the view of the river and the Oriental Pearl Tower is fantastic. There are also lots of convenient dining options nearby. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The best surprise was the Dyson hairdryer – so many hotels have old, weak hairdryers, so this was a real plus. I couldn't seem to find any complimentary tea bags though? If there really aren't any, that would be a good improvement.
