Zermatt Youth Hostel

Great hostel with morning Matterhorn view from our room. Delicious breakfast provided. Only that u have to arrive earlier before 7pm if planning to get a free bus ride to the hostel. Unfortunate for us, we arrive late after 10pm and no more bus available. Thus have to pull our big luggage up hill in 1km distance. But staff is good, we informed for late arrival then they pasted our envelope containing room card access infront of the door. Thanks for that. Then we asked the counter staff for bus schedule next day. Nearest bus station is Luchre, just in front of hotel. can get schedule from SBB apps (Zermat bahnof- Luchre). They also provide free luggage storage after checkout. Great experience in Zermatt and recommended hostel as long as u arrive early 😀

Considering the location in Zermatt, I think this hotel is very good value for money. If I come to Zermatt again, I will consider this hotel. The information at the reception is also in Japanese. Although it was a mountain view room, you cannot see the Matterhorn. There is a spa (sauna), but I did not use it.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel! The excellent service rendered by the staff made our honeymoon much sweeter. Everyone was friendly, kind and always willing to help. Room was really nice and the extra sauna and open concept bathtub was a nice surprise! Breakfast spread was super delicious as well. Facilities like the wellness area include foot bath, infrared chairs, jacuzzi etc.
Matterhorn Lodge Boutique Hotel & Apartments

The Matterhornlodge is located about a 5-10 min walk from the Zermatt station. We arrived at about 1pm and were informed that check-in was only at 2pm so we went for lunch and returned at around 2.30pm. We were greeted by Ruth, the proprietress of the hotel, who gave us a comprehensive briefing of the house rules and policies. Ruth was very warm, friendly, and charming; she was very guest-focused and was happy to find out more about where we were from and what we planned to do. Ruth even gave us recommendations for Bern when we told her we were going there next. Although the hotel is stated to be 4 stars, we were very impressed by the room and the amenities. The bathroom came with a bidet and the toiletries provided were of good quality. The room was also very spacious with enough room to open up 2 luggage bags. The towels and robes were thick, warm, and fluffy. The breakfast provided in the morning was also quite good with a decent selection of breads, cold cuts, cheese, and eggs. At checkout, Ruth also gave us a complimentary ride to the train station in her electric vehicle. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay at the Matterhornlodge and we were very impressed by Ruth’s hospitality.
Peaky Riders Self Check-in Hotel

Very amazed by the level of automation in the hotel! Check-in was seamless even though it was just an iPad. We needed to pay a tourist tax via an online link prior to arrival but we were abit wary given the number of online scams nowadays - perhaps it’ll be better to charge everything up front? There was free coffee available as well, which was a huge plus. The room was amazing, spotlessly clean, sufficiently big, had a balcony, comfortable bed. One of the staff (a guy) allowed us to put our luggage in the room early even though we could only encode our card after 3pm. He even helped us make a reservation at Du Pont as we didn’t have a Swiss number, thanks very much! The hotel is a 10min walk from the main train station, though there are free buses which can shorten the journey. We just walked as it was faster. We were in Swiss for 2 weeks and this hotel is definitely the best accommodation we had - for a very good price as well!

Excellent location, 5-10min walk from the train station. Near to both Coop and Migros. Room was cosy and clean but mattress/bed will need upgrading. It's too soft and will sink in when sleep on. Check in counter is in another hotel a few steps away. Will be great if guests can be informed prior. There's a small lift in the hotel, good for those with heavy luggages!

There is air conditioning! There is air conditioning! There is air conditioning! haha summer is very important, finally do not wash open the window have bugs into the room The room is very large, although living on 1/F, the terrace can see the top of Matterhorn 😛 The hotel has a free shuttle bus transfer station, remember to email the hotel, otherwise uphill and downhill even 8 minutes of road is exhausting There is a coffee machine and refrigerator in the room Quite convenient There was very little food to choose from for breakfast, there were two restaurants on the side, I booked the one at the bottom (-1st floor) for lamb, not so yum yum tho For some reason at night d wood (the whole room is made of wood) sound, I was fine, my fiancé (heehee I was proposed to Zermatt!!!💍) easily woke up

Select no others than this!! You will not regret it. For they have the amazing view of the mountains from their balcony, and a great access even for the disabled. The room i stayed were located at the ground floor, thus they have wheelchair accessible spaces and even a sitting area for the shower which i think is a lovely touch to either elderly or disabled. Cleanliness is top notch and breakfast is great with variety. Pick the window seat like the lovely lady at the restaurant suggested us to as we are the first to arrive for breakfast every morning 😆 If you come during the winter, the room have direct access to the snow outside (check out my new outdoor fridge 🙈) and the bathroom floor is well heated for you too. I’d definitely recommend this if this is your first time visiting.

It was good! It was very good! The room is compact, but everything is available. However, it was painful because the previous guest had a banana in the refrigerator, and it smelled like bananas, and I was not good at bananas. The hot water was good, and above all, there was a bathtub, so I was soaked in a long time and got tired. The aunt at the reception was kind and kind. And I would like to recommend breakfast 🥞 It was a pity that there was no vegetable, but the Indian woman with the cute dining room and the staff was very impressive. The raw ham, cheese and butter in Switzerland were also very delicious!

Overall experience is good. Through we did not get the ideal room (high floor) due to full booking, we got a bigger room on the first floor. Cleanliness and location was great, walkable to the train station and it was accessible to the main street. Amenities were good - kettle was provided to boil hot water, tv could login to your own netflix account, there was tea time provided at 4pm daily.
