Romantic Hotels in Shanghai, China

A month before the National Day holiday, I started planning our family trip with our 2.5-year-old. He's not really suited for crowded tourist spots, and as low-energy parents, we're not up for intense 'special forces' style parenting either. So, I opted for a 'staycation,' which is super popular on Xiaohongshu (xhs). I'd bookmarked several highly-rated family-friendly hotels, and Pudong Kerry stood out as the most satisfying from my research. It offered family rooms, a kids' playground, and direct access to a mall – incredibly convenient! I quickly booked a stay on Ctrip, full of anticipation. We checked in on the evening of the 3rd. The front desk lady was very polite and answered all my questions in detail. When I asked if an additional adult could accompany my child into the playground (the package included entry for one adult and one child, but I was worried I wouldn't have enough energy and we'd need to take turns looking after him 🤣), she agreed without hesitation. I'm really grateful for that, and it proved to be a lifesaver in the playground – we truly couldn't keep up with our child! He had an amazing time, and we parents were exhausted. Upon entering the room, we immediately saw the special tent, a highlight of the family suite. Forget kids, even I, a 30+ adult, wanted to crawl in and hang out for a bit! For the two days we stayed, this little tent became his 'secret base.' When we were relaxing in the hotel, he'd be in there watching Qiaohu (Chuckle) or playing with his toys. The hotel also gifted him a little kangaroo plushie. Wow, it completely won him over and became his 'best buddy.' Every night before bed, he'd ask, 'Where's my best buddy?' Hahaha, the innocence of a child really touches your heart every single moment. The kangaroo T-shirt was a bit big, but that's fine; he can wear it when he's older and we can come back to the Kerry Hotel again. During check-in, the bed rail and children's toiletries were all prepared, which was very thoughtful. The first round of the mini-bar was free, and they even provided cookies, which tasted pretty good. The only suggestion I have is that the bed rail felt a bit unstable. At the head of the bed, it was fine because of the cabinet propping it up, but the foot of the bed felt loose; if you nudged it slightly, it felt like it would fall. Later, I was worried he might roll off in the middle of the night if the rail gave way, so I stuffed pillows along the side of the rail, which solved the problem. Hotel breakfast is on the 1st floor. Booking a family room includes two breakfasts. The breakfast spread was extensive, with Chinese and Western options, noodles, wontons, bread, and pastries – everything you could want, and it all tasted good. Next to the kids' playground was a gym, which looked very good with plenty of equipment, but I didn't get to experience it as I was with my child. This trip was very satisfying, and I look forward to returning to the Kerry Hotel to unlock new experiences.

The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, very close to The Bund and White Magnolia Plaza. The room had large floor-to-ceiling windows, was clean and spacious, and the facilities were well-maintained. The front desk staff and hotel butler provided meticulous and thoughtful service. The indoor circular pool was huge; soaking in the pool and admiring the bustling night view of Lujiazui outside the window completely washed away travel fatigue. The hotel has an observation deck on the top floor, and the complimentary travel photography was excellent. From the second-floor corridor of the hotel, you can walk along the river to The Bund, enjoying the gentle breeze and the vibrant cityscape of Shanghai. I was very satisfied with this trip!👍

The hotel is clean, with a bright and spacious lobby. It's close to Pudong Airport, and the breakfast offers a good variety. The shuttle bus to Pudong Airport is convenient, making it ideal for travelers who need to stay one night and catch an early morning flight. The downsides are that the room had a smoke smell and there was some noise in the morning.

I thought checking in would be a bit challenging, but everything went so smoothly! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and assisted with our luggage before being guided to the check-in area. An English-speaking Cast Member helped us throughout the process and clearly explained everything, including our park-day benefits and inclusions. Our luggage was delivered to our room in less than 15 minutes! The hotel also provided essential amenities, and we could easily request more whenever needed. We stayed for two nights, and after returning from a full day at the park, we were pleasantly surprised to find our room spotless. They had even thoughtfully laid out sheets for our bottles and toiletries, which was such a nice touch when travelling with little ones. ❤️ The beds were comfortable, and the room size was just right for our family. I initially thought it might feel too cramped, but it turned out to be perfectly comfortable for our stay. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience! The service, attention to detail, and convenience made our Disney trip even more enjoyable. We would highly recommend Toy Story Hotel, especially for families with young children planning to spend multiple days at Shanghai Disneyland. Being able to stay right in the Disney bubble made the experience so much easier and more magical! 🧸✨

I've had the Le Méridien Sheshan on my radar for a while, and this National Day holiday I finally got to experience this classic, top-notch family-friendly hotel. Even though the hotel is quite old, its location is exceptional, nestled at the foot of Sheshan mountain. Every room has a balcony with great views and fresh air; sitting out there is simply refreshing. The room interiors are also very well maintained. Outside the room, there's everything you could need, no need to go to any paid parks. You can just relax at the hotel; the kids will never get bored, and adults can enjoy a truly relaxing vacation. During the National Day holiday, there were quite a few weddings being held, and parking was free. Plus, it's very convenient for driving to all the major attractions in Songjiang. A special shout-out to Bob for the excellent service – proactive, smooth communication, and thoughtful. The kids have already said they want to bring their grandparents back for another stay next time.

I chose this hotel for a family trip with my kids. The cleanliness was top-notch, and the room was spotless. The surroundings are nice, and the location is convenient. The front desk service was prompt and friendly. The in-room facilities were in good condition and complete. We had a comfortable stay and it's highly recommended for family travel.

This is my second stay here, and it's definitely a great value-for-money option near Disney. The room was huge, and they even provided complimentary snacks and drinks in the fridge. After a whole day at Disney, it was a perfect place to rest. Next door is 'One Foot Garden', so on the second day, we just took the kids there to play on the slides and in the sand. The adults enjoyed the breeze by the lake and had some tea. This time, I was a bit lazy and also ate at the hotel; the set meal was really good value, and the scrambled eggs were incredibly delicious.

Located on the 71st floor, the room was very high up, spacious, and spotless, complete with full toiletries. Looking out the window, you get a great view of nearby and distant skyscrapers, with Tomson Riviera and the Shanghai Tower right in front of you. Enjoyed a lavish Chinese and Western breakfast on the 56th floor while taking in the high-rise view. Experienced the pool on the 57th floor with the exact same amazing view—I had the whole place to myself! The pool looks a bit small, but it's 1.6 meters deep and very clean. I swam for over an hour, cycling through four different swimming strokes all by myself. I especially loved underwater swimming at the bottom of the pool—it felt amazing! The hot spring pool and steam sauna were also fantastic. The service was warm and attentive, and I will definitely stay here again. Even my neighbors want to come after hearing about my experience. The price was super reasonable right after the Golden Week holiday.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. It offers great value for money with high-end, upscale interior design and very comprehensive facilities. There's even a banquet hall and a massage parlor on the 2nd floor, making the stay extremely comfortable and relaxing. It's only 6.8 km away from Disneyland and just 500 meters from the nearest subway station. They also provide a very well-scheduled round-trip shuttle service. All in all, I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in the area. The breakfast is delicious and offers incredible value, and the staff are beyond amazing—so friendly. The rooms are fantastic and highly recommended. I'll definitely recommend it to my friends next time. Plus, there's a 24-hour supermarket right across the street and free parking available!

The hotel's location is unbeatable – right by the train station and subway entrance, practically stepping out onto the street. It makes getting anywhere incredibly convenient. The room itself was a bit on the small side, feeling a little cramped. However, the front desk service was quite good; the staff were helpful and responded quickly. Now, for the catering service – a definite thumbs down! Seriously, a big thumbs down! Especially when the auntie making the wontons told me it would be 5 minutes, but when I went back 10 minutes later, she said they weren't ready. And then, when they were finally done, she gave two portions to the guy next to me first, saying he'd been waiting longer. But I had ordered mine 10 minutes ago! She even suggested I eat something else and not wait specifically for the wontons. I was truly fuming 😠😠😠😠😠. My family had already finished their rice noodles long before that. What's more, the catering staff were quite careless when clearing things, constantly bumping into people or hitting them with their carts. For a hotel with a star rating, I imagine this isn't their first time hosting so many guests. Or perhaps, they shouldn't be so inexperienced!
