Yiman Hotel (Suzhou Pingjiang Road Scenic Area)
4.7/51251 Reviews
Guanqian Street/Pingjiang Street/Downtown
Pros: Very good location for walking around Pingjiang road. Very handy Suzhou train station pick up service, would recommend utilising for anyone arriving by train. The room was spacious and the bed really comfortable. Cons: bathroom had a bad smell emanating from it. There was quite a lot of construction happening while we were there, started around 7am and didn’t finish until after midnight. Would recommend bringing ear buds. Shower pressure was ok but not amazing. There is also no elevator so you will need to climb one flight of stairs to reach the rooms which are all on the first floor.
Zhouzhuang Life Inn

In Zhouzhuang Ancient Town
I am absolutely in love with this hotel! First of all, the hotel is located inside the scenic spot. One of the staff called me in advance to arrange a time to pick me up at the entrance of the scenic spot. My Chinese is not good so normally it's very awkward for me to speak over the phone in Chinese but she was very patient with me which I appreciate. Not only did she escort me to the hotel but she also carried my luggage for me. The decor inside the hotel has a beautiful, rustic asthetic which matches the feel of the ancient town. I really like table and chairs in my room, overlooking the pond. The pond also has koi fish and turtles! It was a beautiful touch that added to the overrall feel of the hotel. I loved these little details such as theovely traditional Chinese tea set (with a variety of complementary loose tea leaves), and the stylish coffee mugs. Unfortunately I came to Zhouzhuang during a severe typhoon which caused a leak and power cut in my room, so when I alerted the staff, they immediately gave me a new room. They even helped me pack my things so I can change rooms as soon as possible. The new room I went to was equally as beautiful. Not only is the hotel beautiful but it also has great amenities. Both rooms I stayed in had a stone bathtub which were both very deep -you could float it in! If you come here, I would recommend you bring some bubble bath with you like I did for maximum relaxation. I also made good use of the pool. The pool is a little small and a bit too shallow for an adult, but you can still have an enjoyable swim. Lastly, the tea room and cafés are also a nice addition to the hotel. My second room didn't have a table and chairs like the original one I booked, so I went to the tea room to eat my breakfast. It's also a cozy and comfortable room just to relax in if you're feeling lazy. As I have mentioned throughout this review, the service is second to none. Not only did the staff help me get to the hotel, but after I checked out they also carried my luggage and escorted me to the taxi. Throughout my stay I was offered fresh fruit and coffee several times, and as I mentioned earlier, I was immediately helped when I had to change my room. Whenever I struggled to communicate in Mandarin, the staff would try their best to speak English or would be patient with my hesitation or mispronunciation in Mandarin. This is probably the best ever service I have experienced on my travels. In summary, it's a beautiful hotel, in a convenient location with great facilities and helpful and kind staff. Not only will I come back again (and with my family next time) but I will recommend all my friends and colleagues to stay at this hotel if they ever plan to visit Zhouzhuang.
Tongli Lake Resort (Phase II)

Outside Tongli Ancient Town
I felt that the Spring Festival was not over yet, so I brought my family to Tongli Lake Hotel, which was on my wish list, to relax again. It is very convenient to come from Shanghai. It takes only half an hour to get there by taxi from Suzhou South Station. The hotel service is very good. The deluxe suite was upgraded for free, and the children were super happy. The swimming pool also has a special children's pool, and the water temperature of the children's pool is a little higher. The housekeeper Yu Ting is very considerate, and she informs you of various play information in a timely manner, and responds quickly to the services you need. There are also fruits, milk, small biscuits, footbaths, footbath powder, and bathtub bags. These services are beyond expectations. There are also many amusement facilities, some of which are a little old and small, but they are enough for children to play (suitable for little ones). Older children can also make handicrafts, which are charged but not expensive. It would be perfect if the weather was warm, and I would invite friends to come when the weather is good!
InterContinental Nanjing

Xuanwu Lake Scenic Area/Jiming Temple
My recent stay at the InterContinental Nanjing during a father-son trip had its highlights, but there were also a few areas that could be improved. The room layout was excellent for our needs. It featured a separate living room and bedroom, which allowed my son to have his own space to play while I could relax or work in peace. The bathtub overlooking the lake was a lovely touch and provided a relaxing way to unwind after a day of exploring. The view of the lake from the room was stunning and added a serene atmosphere to our stay. However, I did notice some stains on the floor, which detracted from the overall cleanliness and luxury feel of the room. While it didn’t ruin our stay, it was something that stood out and could be addressed to maintain the hotel’s high standards. The location of the hotel was a bit of a downside. While the lakeside setting was beautiful, there wasn’t much around in terms of dining or entertainment options. We had to travel a fair distance to find good restaurants, which was inconvenient, especially with a child. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and accommodating, making our stay comfortable. The breakfast buffet was also a highlight, offering a wide variety of options that catered to both my son’s and my preferences. Overall, the InterContinental Nanjing provided a pleasant stay with its spacious room layout and beautiful lake views. However, the lack of nearby dining options and the cleanliness issue in the room were noticeable drawbacks. With a few improvements, this could be an exceptional hotel for families.
Tongli Lake View Hotel

Outside Tongli Ancient Town
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with our 10 month old during Golden Week. Pros: - Hotel is self-contained and there is no need to leave the hotel. There are large and well-maintained grounds for our daily walks with baby, including museums and traditional pagodas dotted throughout the property. There is a chinese, western (steak, pizza) and japanese (teppanyaki) restaurant within the hotel. There is also a kids play room and swimming pool, along with some other kid friendly activities like rabbit feeding and games on the lawn. - The hotel is right next to the lake and is quite beautiful. It's very relaxing to stroll along the lake. - There is an ancient town about 15 minutes walk from the hotel's main lobby. There is a free hotel shuttle to and from the ancient town too. - Staff are generally friendly and helpful - Large, family-friendly rooms are available. We stayed in a lake view suite, which was just right for us and our baby. - Hotel is affordable by international standards - Hotel is less than 2 hours drive from Shanghai, where we live - We particularly enjoyed the teppenyaki restaurant where you can get a private room and a private chef to cook your meals - Despite it being Golden Week, we didn't feel that the hotel was too crowded. Perhaps because the hotel has large grounds. Cons - The baby cot given to us had an extremely thin and uncomfortable mattress. To compensate, we were given a comforter to pad the mattress. However, this is unsafe for younger babies, who should sleep on a firm surface. - The property and facilities are a bit dated - There were very loud weddings on the lawn facing the lake each day that we were at the hotel. The loud music and emceeing disturbed the peaceful ambience of the place, and also disrupted baby's morning and afternoon naps. For families with children who still need to nap in the day, it may be better to stay in a quieter garden view room instead of a room facing the lake.
Novotel Suzhou Tai Lake Santeh

Taihu Lake/ Eastern Mountain/ Western Mountain
Give Suzhou Novotel Hot Spring Hotel a big thumbs up. Put a room card to prove that you have been here. The hotel environment and sanitation are perfect, and there are welcome fruits and welcome drinks. There is nothing to say about the hardware, the sound insulation is good, and the configurations such as smart toilet, Xiaomi TV, ergonomic chair, bathrobe, refrigerator, etc. are all full. I was attracted by the outdoor swimming pool and hot springs. The outdoor swimming pool is great, and there are six or seven pools in the hot springs. There are not many people in the evening. There are more people when I went there at 10 o'clock the next day, but everyone is of good quality and in order. The water quality is also acceptable, which is good news for swimming enthusiasts. There is nothing more comfortable than soaking in the hot springs and playing a game of gold shovel. There are not many people in the gym. Although the equipment is a bit old, it has everything it should have. I came here for the Chinese Valentine's Day and I am really satisfied. In addition, I would like to specially praise Miss Yang who helped me check in on 8/10. Miss Yang's smile is very contagious. She clearly introduced the location and business hours of each project, and helped me upgrade the room type, which made my Chinese Valentine's Day trip to a higher level. I have stayed at Kempinski, Four Seasons and Shangri-La before, this is my first time staying at Novotel Resort Hotel, I will come again next time!
Pengxin Garden Guobin Hotel

Nantong University/Langshan Scenic Area
This hotel is the best in Nantong as far as service, views and food. Let’s start with the service. Upon arrival which was very late, we were greeted by the front desk staff. These ladies were so kind and helpful. They helped my husband and I get settled up and settled in. We were told all the different areas of the hotel including the beautiful pool. The next morning we arrived at the main building for breakfast. It was amazing the options that were available. Western style breakfast was provided. Even cold cereal. Chinese breakfast is also provided. The restaurant has amazing views of the grounds which you can enjoy while having breakfast , lunch or dinner. After breakfast we were given a tour of the upstairs area where you can see the entire hotel and then some. The service person who gave us the tour is a very nice man who also gave us a shuttle ride to the restaurant. Did I say that the staff is amazing? They are the best!!! Our room was upgraded and it has a tub in the bathroom. The views from our room was spectacular. We stayed in the villa suite. It has a living area and a separate bedroom. More than enough room for two people. The hotel is walking distance to Lang Shan mountain/ temple and a lovely park by the river. You can also rent a bike for a ride. The grounds remind me of suburbia USA. Loved it. You can walk forever in the beautiful naturalistic surroundings which include little brooks and ponds. Peaceful and surreal. The architecture of the villas are so beautiful. I felt at home. Our room also had a somewhat of a wrap around balcony to have your morning coffee on. I could on and on about this hotel but you should go see for yourself. You won’t be disappointed. We will definitely go back again and again.
Jinling Mandarin Garden Hotel Nanjing

Confucius Temple/Qinhuai River Scenic Area
The hotel is strategically located near the Confucius Temple, Qinhuai River and the pedestrian street. It is very convenient to eat snacks, cruise the Qinhuai River and visit the Confucius Temple. The room rate is not expensive as it is off the peak holiday season. The lobby manager and waiters are very enthusiastic. There is milk every night and fruit on the day of check-in, which is very considerate. The room is large and comfortable.
Crowne Plaza Suzhou

West of Suzhou Industrial Park/Suchow Center
The location is excellent, overlooking the lake. Everything is clean and tidy, as you would expect for the price paid. A few suggestions for improvement: Breakfast: The hotel closes its breakfast bar at 10:15 a.m., which is too early. For people on holiday, it can be challenging to wake up before 9 a.m. Personally, during my two-day stay, I missed breakfast on the first day and had to rush through it on the second. Based on my experience with other five-star hotels, most do not enforce such an early cutoff. Some even allow guests to enjoy breakfast as long as they arrive at the restaurant by 11 a.m., letting them take their time and enjoy a leisurely breakfast or brunch until 1 p.m. Facilities: I am sure the hotel offers plenty, from gym facilities and a spa to a pool. However, when I checked in, the staff did not explain how to access these amenities. Since I was busy exploring the city of Suzhou, I didn’t have the opportunity to make full use of the hotel’s facilities. Still, for a five-star hotel, I expected the staff to provide a warm introduction to the property and its offerings upon check-in.

Guanqian Street/Pingjiang Street/Downtown
Such a friendly hotel and much better value for money than some of the big names. Room was really big and very clean, bathroom a little old but spotless. As a family of four this was a good choice for us. The staff were lovely, they honestly put some of the 5* to shame, they were really helpful with everything. Breakfast is fine if you are happy with Chinese food, lots of choice for this (there were some western options) and happy to share a table. Beds were a little on the hard side for anyone not from China but fine. Overall we had a great stay and at a very reasonable price. There is a big free car park too which really helps if you are driving. There is also a metro station a very short walk away. There was a bowl of fruit and a lot of bottled water and ample toiletries. Would definitely stay again, a good wallet-friendly option.
