This was our first time at The Zebra Riding Club and our experience was first class. Great food, staff and service we will be back for more very soon!
The restaurant was a surprise in many ways. The location is interesting, the room is unusually large, airy and well-presented. The taster menu had many plusses and the staff were very helpful. Our only problem was getting there. The approach was blocked by a closed road and it took us an hour to find another entrance. The Birch website doesn't mention the blockage or give clear routes. The name in our heads was the Zebra Riding Club, as that's what we'd booked. The only open entrance, though, doesn't mention that name and is easy to miss from the dual carriageway approach. Contact by phone wasn't easy, either. We're just grateful that the restaurant staff understood our problem and were happy to serve us despite the lateness.
We are so pleased to have discovered this little gem of a place. The tasting menu was exciting and zinging with flavour - with the exception of dessert which was perfectly nice, but a bit run of the mill. The wine matches need some work. Staff were excellent, friendly and informative. We’ll definitely be going back.
The food was amazing so many different flavours and textures. The vegetables were so fresh and not your usual. The sourdough bread I haven’t ever tasted bread like that the crispness and the softness together heaven The lamb melted in your mouth , we have eaten in many london restaurants and this was a pure Gem to find locally the food was outstanding. we will without doubt be visiting again
Nice diner, in a barn ambiance. We would have loved a more tasty plates. The ingredients were great and local missing some spices. Easy to park and get there
