What travelers say:
The food at the Mandarine was excellent. The location gives it the feel of a local restaurant rather than one for tourists and the prices reflect this too, as it was by far the best value meal we’ve have in Switzerland, but without any compromise on quality.

The food was very good and the service was excellent. Very friendly and polite. The fact that the restaurant fully respect the instructions in relation with the COVID makes you feel relaxed . The place is also very clean . Very reasonable price too.
Great food!We came across this restaurant on Tripadvisor when we were trying to find a restaurant that was open on a Sunday night, wasn’t a hotel, too expensive or Italian! The choice was limited. We were able to reserve online but later noticed that the details of opening hours on Tripadvisor suggested it was closed every day. Perhaps it has closed down due to COVID 19, we thought, or the owners are on holiday. We telephoned to check and discovered two things - yes, they would be open and no, no one spoke English. When we arrived for dinner they weren’t expecting us and there wasn’t a table ready. There were plenty of empty tables inside but it was a warm night and we wanted to sit outside. We helped the waitress move the suggested table away from the entrance area into a spot on the terrace where we could eat at a safer social distance.OK that’s the grumbles out of the way. The food was delicious. We had the set menu Mandarine (CHF43 per person) - soup, salad, mixed starters, 2 main dishes, vegetable fried rice and a small fruit salad. All really tasty and cooked well. The food made up for the grumbles and we were pleased that we had made the effort. It was a 35 minute walk from our hotel. The restaurant is next door to the train station and so we hopped on a train for the journey back - Montreux station in 4 minutes! Our station in about 5 mins with a 5 minute walk afterwards.
I just discovered this nice little restaurant that goes unnoticed behind the station but serves succulent dishes at a very reasonable price. The service is attentive and warm, and the atmosphere is pleasant. Recommended to those who know how to appreciate a little gem of Asian gastronomy.
Very fine food, great service and, most importantly, the price-performance ratio is very good. The restaurant is easy to find right next to the train station.
