Beautiful view of the main temple and cathedral and part of the Zocalo plate, the dishes are good

Great view of Templo Mayor. Wonderful service. Food quality was okay- value was poor. Enchiladas in each sauce were okay, Mexican Salad was okay but reminded me of Santa Fe Salad at Cheesecake Factory. Maybe have a drink a adjoing cafe, instead?

You probably are not here for the food, but for the SPECTACULAR view of the ruins of Templo Mayor. But the food is pretty good, if a bit pricey by casual CDMX standards (but consider the location!). We had a late lunch of enchiladas and pollo con mole. Enchiladas were good but nothing special. Mole sauce was excellent but chicken was a bit overcooked. Service was good.

The place has a wonderful view and the service is good. The dishes are just OK, nothing spectacular, but you should try a visit and have Mexican original food enjoying a nice view.

Great view to Templo Mayor

When our hotel concierge recommended this place I though we were headed for a tourist trap. El Mayor has one of the best views of Zocolo, and it is very popular. Surprisingly the food was excellent, the drinks were delicious, and the waitsaff is superb.  It is really apparent that our waiter is quite passionate about the food that he serves. He was eager to make recommendations for both food and drinks. We tried two types of tacos, arreachera, and enchiladas with peach sauce. All the food was beautifully presented, hot from the kitchen and delicious. The Mezcalitas were also great.  The whole meal was surprisingly affordable and we really enjoyed the meal. This is the type of place we usually would avoid based on the location, but I&apos;m glad we got the recommendation. It was a great place to start our trip.

Excellent First Meal in CDMX

Mexico City stole my heart with its romantic, European like architecture and rooftop restaurants. I tried out different rooftop restaurants from brunch to dinner around the Zócalo because I couldn’t get over the views. El Mayor had a very beautiful rooftop restaurant with good food.

The restaurant is not very big, with a very traditional decoration, very local style, but it is very clean, and it is still safe to eat here. The dishes are not small, and the speed of serving is very fast!
