In the local Shirakawa Village, there is a Japanese restaurant that attracts many diners from all over the world. The restaurant is called Oshokujidokoro Jihei, and their taste is indeed first-class.

Shirakawa-go, the World Heritage Gassho-zo settlement, is a very nostalgic and rustic area, where you can enjoy unique local cuisine and feel the Japanese nostalgia.

We chose this book and food shop, which is located at the entrance of Gassho Village. It is a small house full of traditional and simple atmosphere. We were greeted by a very friendly aunt in kimono, full of smiles, plus the restaurant appearance is biased towards the nostalgic style, like coming to the countryside residents to eat feeling, very atmospheric.

Knotty pork そ焼き set meal, a dish of homemade miso, green onions, mountain vegetables, tofu and mushrooms on a small stove, served with pork slices, and slowly grilled over fire below. Miso can not only bring out the deliciousness of the ingredients, its own slightly burnt mellow aroma, very rich taste good with rice.
