Zhao'an County in Zhangzhou is close to Chaoshan, Guangdong. Its eating habits are consistent with Chaoshan and close to southern Fujian. In the small Zhao'an County, restaurants can be seen everywhere, and Zhao'an is famous for its chefs. The dishes made by any food stall are basically not bad. The ingredients here are very rich. People like to eat seafood and beef. The farmers' market is full of all kinds of the freshest seafood, and there are no fewer stalls selling fresh beef than pork stalls. Here are a few Zhao'an food restaurants, all of which I have tasted personally. These restaurants are quite famous locally. Maybe because Zhao'an is an inconspicuous little place, the popularity of outsiders coming here to check in is still very low. 1. Xiongzi Beef Restaurant. Very small store, no environment. About 50 yuan per person, the standard is: beef balls, beef and offal soup (with white radish 👍) + green vegetables. The boss will configure the pot of soup according to the number of guests, and you can also match or add fried beef or fried offal yourself. The beef soup is great, the beef tongue is amazing, and it is just soft and chewy. At mealtime, a steady stream of people came on motorcycles to pack up. The boss was very efficient and packed the beef soup and rice in plastic bags in a few seconds. Second, Baoqin Maozai Congee. There are many seafood congee shops in Zhao'an, such as Maozai Congee, Fish Congee, and Boat Congee, which are all similar. This is similar to the habit of Chaoshan people to eat congee. But there is one difference: Chaoshan likes to boil the rice until it blooms, and the rice here is grain by grain, similar to Xiamen. Baoqin is very famous in the local area. In fact, there are many other delicious congee shops, but this shop is very close to where I live. It has a rich variety of ingredients. If you don't know how to choose, you can ask the store to match it. The basic version is 20 yuan, with meat paste, shark, shrimp, mackerel, squid, oysters, etc., a full bowl of ingredients, add some pepper when eating. I don't recommend dipping in seasoning, I feel that the original flavor of seafood can be preserved. You can cook noodles or vermicelli, but I think porridge is more delicious. Third, Zheng's Yongjinfang Dessert Shop. It opens at 4 or 5 in the afternoon and lasts until 1 a.m. Hidden in the ancient city in a messy environment, there are a few small tables and benches on the roadside in front of the store. I ate two desserts that day, and this store amazed me! A bowl of hot dessert like the one in the picture costs 10 yuan, including longan meat, peanuts, ginkgo, taro balls, white fungus, and there are lotus roots, red beans, mung beans, coix seeds, taro, etc. on the counter.
