Day 4 of my Shanxi trip also took me to Xinzhou Ancient City. In the afternoon, I took a train from Pingyao Station to Xinzhou, Shanxi. I stayed at the Yimuyiqi B&B (Xinzhou Ancient City Branch) in the ancient city. The location is excellent, right next to the Xiurong Academy. Between the academy and the B&B are snack streets like Xiurong North Lane and Taishan Temple Lane. All the popular Xinzhou Ancient City snacks—roasted pig's trotters, ancient city yogurt, yellow rice jelly cakes, etc.—are all nearby. The only downside is the long lines. 😂😂😂 👌🏻👌🏻After packing my bags🧳 and taking a rest, it was almost 6 o'clock, so I went out to find something to eat. Turn right from the B&B and walk straight for two minutes to find Xiurong Academy. There was a dance performance going on right outside the entrance. After watching for a while, I wandered around the snack street. I chose Dingxiang Fanpu (Taishan Miaoxiang Branch) (Figure 13) for dinner. It was affordable and the food was pretty good. They make their own soy products, which is quite special. It was quite crowded, but they're big, so we got a table quickly. After a satisfying meal and a satisfying drink 😂, the kids and I went to the square on the hilltop of Xiurong Academy to watch a performance (only a short performance outside; if you want to see the whole thing, you can buy a ticket inside). We also saw the night view of Xinzhou Ancient City. The mountain was very comfortable; the temperature in Xinzhou wasn't too hot. There was an open-air teahouse halfway up the mountain where you could watch a movie, drink tea, and chat (it's also a popular photo spot in Xinzhou Ancient City).
